This Date In Sox History 8/24
Hectic day today gang...sorry for the brevity!
8-24-54: Sox 4, Wash. 0 - Dick Donovan with the shut out but this is what’s really interesting. The Sox record was 81-45! That’s a .642 win percentage. Yet they were STILL eight and a half games behind the Indians in 3rd place. The gap between the 3rd place White Sox and fourth place Tigers was 24 ½ games! There were three ‘super’ teams that season, Cleveland, New York and the White Sox. The rest of the league was absolute garbage.
