This Date In Sox History 8/24

Hectic day today gang...sorry for the brevity!

8-24-54: Sox 4, Wash. 0 - Dick Donovan with the shut out but this is what’s really interesting. The Sox record was 81-45! That’s a .642 win percentage. Yet they were STILL eight and a half games behind the Indians in 3rd place. The gap between the 3rd place White Sox and fourth place Tigers was 24 ½ games! There were three ‘super’ teams that season, Cleveland, New York and the White Sox. The rest of the league was absolute garbage.

94 wins and you're 17 back at the end of the year, Incredible. Those same 94 wins would have won the AL Central 5 out of the past 7 times.
