8-19-55: Sox 3, Det. 0 - Billy Pierce throws the shut out, the Sox go to 70-46 and trail the Yankees by only a game.

8-19-64: Sox 4, N.Y.2 - Game #3 of the key four game series goes the Sox way behind the pitching of Ray Herbert. Itís three in a row over the Bombers. The Sox go to 74-47 and are a half game behind Baltimore.

8-19-77: Sox 3 @ Milw. 1 - One of the last well pitched games from Wilbur Wood as he goes the distance. Richie Zisk and Oscar Gamble slug home runs. At 67-50 the Sox are percentage points ahead of the Rangers in the Western Division.

8-19-83: Sox 3 @ Tex. 2 AND Sox 6 @ Tex. 1 - Itís ĎWinniní Uglyí against the Rangers as the Sox sweep behind Rich Dotson and Jerry Koosman with relief help from Dick Tidrow. Texas skipper Doug Rader gets a first hand look as the Sox go to 67-53. They lead Kansas City by eight and the Rangers by ten full games.

8-19-00: Sox 7, T.B. 0 - Mike Sirotka goes six innings, three relief pitchers finish up the combined shut out. Frank Thomas blasts a three run home run. The Sox are 74-49, nine up on Cleveland.
