achieved primarily by dominating the royals, tigers and devil rays, should not hide the real truth about this team revealed in our dismal record against teams over .500. This should have also been apparent in our 2000 playoff effort in which we were waxed 0-3.
This team needs changes - not a lot, but several critical ones. I hope KW picks up the baton and makes them.
And even if we can slide into the playoffs next year, we won't get to play the royals in the playoffs.

Here's a suggestion, Kenny - they don't award world series titles based on the best minor league pictching depth in baseball. Use them, develop them and trade them.

Here's another one - you also don't win them with players who can't get on base, like your two big acquisitions last year: clayton and alomar. And, contrary to what manuel says, defense matters - a lot.

Tragg there is a reason why it has been 85 years and waiting. The moves needed to win are not made.

The thing is last year we beat up all the good teams, Yankees, Indians, A's, mariners in the regular season and had trouble with the bad teams, Royals and so on. Its like the opposite from this year to last. We went into last year's series on a cold streak with the bats.
We handles those teams in the AL in the Reg. season, but we got cold feet in the playoffs. I think them having such a poor record against above .500 balllubs is 2 things. 1st. We are not at 100%. 2nd. We have such a young team.

We're in between right now. You have to be above good to dominate all the bad teams. An average team wouldn't dominate teams like that with out being good enough to do so, if that makes sense. This team is right at the crest of being great. Thats why I thing if everybody coes back healthywe willbe great against the bad and the good. It not only brings depth back into our team (Bullpen) it brings veteranship(is that a word?) Big Frank was missed not only for the intimidation factor, but 2 words that he brings to this club..ON BASE % He gets on base. Bullpen depth was also a problem. So next year we will not only have a mixture of youngsters and veterans, but a better all around team. That extra help should get us over the hump against the good teams.

All we need is a veteran starter or two for this team to be complete. The rest is there. Good, young line-up, and good bullpen with dominate closer. Thw defense is a little off, bt Jose will be at SS nex year so all will be healed!
