This year's Sox have done a good job of showing progess from what the teams of '98 and '99 showed. The '98 team was 80-81 and the '99 team was 75-86. Now in '99 the Sox had a worse record than in '98, but in '99 the kids started to take center stage more than in '98. Last year almost everybody had great years, so IF that was a fluke this year has been good progress for development. The young kids being almost the entire team grab a winning record, I'm impressed. Don't get the idea that I think 2000 was a fluke because I don't think that, but IF it was a fluke the 2001 Sox looked good in showing that they will be better in the years to come.

It sure is something.

Imagine Oakland without Giambi and Hudson.

The Mariners without Ichiro and Garcia.

The Cubs without Sammy and whatshisface.

You get the point.
