Remember last season when ESPN made such a big deal about the Phillies having to play 27 games in 27 days? Well the White Sox have a stretch like that too this year. Any bets on whether there will be a 27 games in 27 days watch on Sportscenter like the Phillies? The dates of the stretch are Tuesday August 17th vs Detroit to Sunday September 12th @ Anaheim.

This is going to be the stretch that defines whether or not we are going to make a race of it or not. We have 3 with Boston, 4 at Cleveland, 1 with Philly, 3 with Oakland, 3 at Texas and 3 at Anaheim. The only non-contenders we face are Detroit and Seattle. 18 of the 27 games therefore come against contending teams or two thirds.

After this stretch, 6 of the next 9 games are against Minnesota, so this stretch will determine if those games are meaningful.

They are in the middle of a long one right now too. Who makes out these schedules anyway? I mean there were 5 days off in June and 3 more in May or something.

We weren't supposed to have had all these games in a row, that one game against Philly that's a make-up for the rainout we had earlier in the year.

Still we had many more scheduled off days in the first half of the season than we do in the second half.

In this current 22 game stretch against AL central teams, the Sox are 8-12. Think that's pathetic? Have you checked their record against the AL west? Get ready to hurl. This team needs to get real hot, real fast just to be competetive.
