I don't have any problem with the Contrares/Este deal. This team
is NOT a contender. The biggest slap in the face we got is that
the Twins punted Doug M. for nothing in return. That is, they are
not just confident that they can win the Central by playing good
ball, they know that the white sox have imploded and simply don't
have the talent to beat any of the central clubs other than
K.C. (and KC had better talent before punting beltran).

Honestly, when you look at Minnesota, Cleveland, and the Tigers,
they are just better hitters than the white sox. I wouldn't be
surprised to see us finish 3rd or 4th in our division. Does anyone
think that Crede, Valantine, Uribe, Perez, Alomar, or Burke are
going to turn this thing around in the lower half of the order?
Of course not.

We lost 2 plays who had over 200 RBIs and the potential for 70
HR and .500 OBP. Right now we have Pauly, Carlos, Aaron and
a bunch of mediocre major league talent. This is NOT a winning
club. I think to rehash and bitch at KW is a joke. He tried, and
our players failed. Thats all there is to it. Quit trying to blame
this aggressive GM for trying to win. His guys don't execute.
At this point, I don't know what Ozzie can say. He has a group of
mostly AAA hitters who don't change their approach to hitting.
Expect to see all of these guys gone next year. I cannot
wait to see Jose packing. What an undisciplined guy!! Can't
field, hit, or think.

Might as well not even play the games the rest of the way - we are 5 games out of the division and 4 game out of the wild card.


Minnesota didn't "punt doug m for nothing in return" - they traded him since they have a lot of 1B/DH types who are young and part of their long terms plans and they got a potential front of the rotation SP for 2 years from now in the deal. They have plenty of other options to play 1B - and we will get to see them. This was a GREAT deal for them.

You don't trade a left-handed bullpen arm like that. Marte is struggling lately, but he is still a big part of this team both now and in the future.

I don't blame KW or Ozzie for this either. We used to be able to play over our weaknesses by bludgeoning the opposition with our offense. Without the big boys in the middle of the lineup, we can't do that anymore. We've always made errors and walked guys, but it's showing up more now that we don't have the firepower to play over it.
