Why spend money to fill a spots that don't need to be filled. Look at everyone who could possibly be in our bullpen next year. All of these names are WITHIN OUR SYSTEM:

Keith Foulke
Bobby Howry
Bill Simas
Antonio Osuna
Ken Vining
Kelly Wunsch
Sean Lowe
Gary Glover (if he dosen't start)
Rocky Biddle (" ")
Kip Wells (" ")
Onan Masakoa
Josh Fogg
Matt Ginter
Lorenzo Barcelo
Jim Parque (if he dosen't start)
Bill Pulsipher (if he signed for next year)

There is no award for collecting middle relievers, just ask the Mets.

Simas is a free agent.
Vining is bad.
Lowe wants to start, if he doesn't look for him to ask to be traded.
Pulsipher is bad.
Other then that I agree with you.

Well, we have a lot of relievers, but how many are quality ones??

Foulke - Expensive! We've all debated this one too much.
Howry - Sucks, refuse to say more.
Simas - Coming off surgery, how much can we expect from him? Plus he isn't exactly thrilled to be here.
Osuna - Also off surgery...so who knows.
Vining - Not ready.
Wunsch - See Osuna, Simas
Lowe - He wants to start or be traded. I love having Lowe in the pen, we need his quality arm for long relief! But if he only wants to be a starter, who knows if he will stick around.
Glover - I find Glover and Lowe to be very similar, one of them will probably start, the other in the pen.
Biddle - Biddle didn't really impress me much this year and combined with surgery, he shouldn't be worth much next year.
Kip - I'd expect him to be a starter next year.
Masakoa - I'm not sure why you mentioned him when there is so much other talent in AA or AAA.
Fogg - Has looked pretty good actually. Maybe he can fit in somewhere.
Ginter - Not ready.
Barcelo - See Simas, Osuna, Wunsch, Biddle.
Parque - I dunno, I never really like Jimmy.
Pulsipher - Horrible joke.

Simas is a free agent I doubt he is brought back Mr. Positive. Vining came over in the White Flag trade of 1997 if he is not ready now he'll never be.

Yeah, thats what I was trying to say about Simas. He isn't happy right now, and I don't see us signing him. As for Vining, he is not ready, he made it quite clear from his performance. Maybe you are right, he will never be ready.

Well next year makes it 5 years he has been with the Sox. He hasn't shown much. I think he better have himself one hell of a spring training or the Sox will dump him.

If I was building the ptchign staff for next year here's who I would have:

Rotation:

Buehrle
Wells
Garland
Wright
Glover/Rauch

Bullpen:

Foulke
Howry
Simas
Osuna
Lowe
Wunsch

That bullpen gives you four guys who have had success closing. I'm not usre if Rauch will be ready for the majors at the beginning of next year. As far as Ken Vining goes, he's young, cheap, and left-handed, which in everyone elses eyes, including mine, makes him worth something. After all Wunsch was exactly that and look how he turned out last year.

Well that's if Simas is resigned. Again Lowe wants to start, if the Sox put him back in the pen he will ask to be traded in my opinion.

I would like to take Wright out of there and throw Big Wells in there if he signs an incentive deal.

Too bad we know who that person is, and you can't trade someone to your own team.

I would like to announce a major deal we have made for a right handed reliever. We really like his arm. His name is Robert Howry.

No, that if it weren't true that we had a GM with the intelligence of a 4 year old hopped up on pixie stixs.
