I'll have to plug in Frank Thomas' name in here. I know its the easy one, but he is the reason I became a Sox fan. And the greatest hitter in team history.

I just thought you loved sixty....never mind.
I'll tell you what, Frank has always been my answer to this question. But Valentin this year has really made me a big fan. I haven't been really following the Sox for that long, (I'm only 18, but haven't been following them religiously for that long either), but Valentin is a great baseball player. Watching him run the bases and deliver clutch hit after clutch hit is so much fun to watch. Little things like base running are fun to watch when you have played and understand the game. Cub fans can have their strike outs and home runs, I like watching Jose run the bases. Oh, and the clutch home runs are nice too. :D:

Carlton Fisk
I was at the game vs. Baltimore in '83 when Carlton hit the apparent game winning homerun and it was ruled a double. LaRussa came out and ripped up third base and threw it. He became an elite manager that day. Too bad Carlton didn't go into the Hall wearing a White Sox cap . . . .
Other players I've idolized at some point or another -
Harry Chappas
Steve Trout
Ozzie Guillen
Robin Ventura
