As i was watching the game today, during the ninth inning, I noticed that Shingo's fastball was consistently hitting 91 on the radar gun and even hit 94 at one point. Do you think this is just a bad radar or did Shingo add more power to his fastball?

WCIU radar gun malfunctioning. By 2-3 mph.

Sabathia doesn't throw 101 (he can reach 97+ on occasion)
Shingo doesn't throw above 94 (89 is as high as it goes)

Yeah. Rooney and Farmer noticed at one point one of Sabathia's fastballs clocking in a 99 and he doesn't throw THAT hard.

Hawk and DJ pointed out last night that while the TV radar said 100 for one of Lee's pitches, the stadium's gun was reading about 95.

Radars suck. Most of the time they are off. THey give one a false impresion of a pitcher. BOO RADAR.

Unless yer holdin a radar gun and behind home, dont trust any prompted speed rating. I routinely sit behind the scouts(row 15) at comiskey and i glance at their gun and at the gun on the scoreboard, colon last year threw a 94 mph fastball which clocked at 97-99 on the scoreboard. Then again, maybe someone sneezed by the scoreboard radar reading and gave it a false reading?

on the Indian broadcast their radar had shingo at 88 as his fastest which is about right

I guess we all agree Sox fans have no "Radar Love".:D: :D: :D:

(FYI,"Radar Love" is a 1974 hit by a band called Golden Earring).

The radar is only significant for Shingo to tell how slowly the ball is going. Who cares about his top speed.

When I faced Shingo, when he was fresh out of college, he didn't throw over 90. In fact, he almost struck me out on a speed limit fastball.

Howry hit 100 on the gun the other night on the gun and Hawk and DJ were laughing about it, they had said that the gun was way off.

I think the radar was off. Hawk and DJ said something about the gun in the game before being a little fast.

I think the radar was off. Hawk and DJ said something about the gun in the game before being a little fast.A little fast? FOX gun is a little fast (1-2 mph), but the gun from the Cle series had Howry/Politte hit 100 and Sabathia - 101. A little insane is what it is.

I did notice Freddy was 3 mph slower than Sabathia on the fastball, though.
