View Full Version : The Willie Harris/Juan Uribe 2B platoon is pointless.

Both guys hit right-handers much better than lefties (Willie - .294/.158, Juan - .297/.208). So by my count all three of our MIFs don't handle LHP particularly well. There's only one answer Sox fans...

Willie Harris is the best second baseman currently on the White Sox roster. Aaron Rowand is our best centerfielder. Play them as such.

Uribe is a super sub who can play third, ss and second base equally well. That's what he was brought in to do. Right now I would play him primarily at third a few days a week until Crede gets hot, and at SS against tough lefties.

Uribe looks pretty damn good at 2B.

Not true. 96 at bats is a tiny sample size. From '01-'03 Uribe hit lefties better.

Not true, at least using your criteria. In '01-'02 there was no difference (.260 vs RHP/.258 vs LHP). He did better in 2003 (.236/.301) but that was in only 93 ABs. Tiny sample size. His good 2003 skewed the entire '01-'03 splits.

Yeah, but unfortunately right now Uribe can't get a hit off Mother Mary of the Little Sisters of the Poor. And it doesn't matter if she's left or right handed.

I think Willie has something that no other person on the team has, incredible speed. All things being equal, and it is starting to look like they are, Willie should be in the lineup. I know Willie doesn't steal as often as he should but just having that speed on the basepaths makes teams anxious.
