This guy just replaced John Olerud at 1B and is tearing it up for them. He's got 3 homeruns in his first week in the majors. I'm sure no one misses Olerud anymore. It's good to know that Olivo will be on a good team come next season. Supposedly, this guy Bucky hit a 530 foot homerun in the Seattle minors.

And the pitcher that got the win in this game was making his major league debut, his name is Bobby Madritsch.

The past few years I have played on an ametuer league team with his brother. The guys from the team called me to watch the game last night and look for him since I have the mlb extra innings package.
They had a microphone on him during the game while he was in the bullpen and when Seattle hit one of the homers he said, "You can put it on the board!" The Seattle announcers were laughing and saying he must be doing the Hawk impersonation because he grew up in Chicago. Way to go Bobby!

I thought that Madritch guy had started a couple games already. Didn't he start one vs. us?

No, he just got called up. He grew up on the southside and went to Reavis high school. He came out to some of our practices and games with his brother after the Reds released him from their system a few years ago. It was cool to see how much harder he threw as opposed to the old dead arms in our hack league. Good to see a local boy make it.

Are there any pictures of Bobby Madritsch around? I went to grammar school with a guy with that name and he was born in 76 as well...

I just contacted a friend of mine and she verified that it is him. This is cool - I never thought I'd find out someone I knew fairly well is a pro ball player. Way cool!
