The WHITE SOX Fan vs Murphs Cub Morning Zoo war of words begins today,
as Murphs Stooge and Alleged Sox Fan Fred Huebner called emailer Kevin Quinn
a "dumb-ass" for writing and complaining about the 4+ hours of cub talk yesterday and only 5 minutes of Sox Talk. Murph went so far as to accuse SOX Fans of complicity, saying if we'd call in, they would talk SOX.

Huebner went on a tirade, mentioning some of the Scalding Sox Emails he got yesterday, he is angry for being perceived as being in the Pocket of Wrigley Field, and WATCHING as many cub games as he does SOX games. Well, i dont mind someone Watching BOTH games, but Fred, YOUR SUPPOSED TO COMMENT (like your cub cohort does all day long) about the SOX at some point. SOrry, Fred, your a STOOGE. He DIDNT mention how Murph STEERS conversations Towards the cubs, PLANTS cub topics, and then Keeps SOX FANS ON HOLD. Hes the Dumb-Ass, because hes not fooling us.

Let it be officially Known Fred Huebner IS NOT A SOX FAN, he wouldnt allow this to happen if her were.

Though the WhiteSox ALSO blew a late lead, to a 1st Place Team, the Chicago Media is content to devote twice as much print to the 3rd place Cubs

Cubune:
7 cub stories
3 sox storeis
Cub-Times:
8 cub stories
3 sox stories
Standings since Spring Training...........
CUBS 1144
SOX 822

I made reference to this in the "Parking Lot" thread. I firmly believe that WSCR management has made the decision that Mike Murphy is now expendable. They obviously want ratings to improve and they realize they're missing out on all the Sox fans during his show.

Listening to him for a while this morning.....he's talking like someone who'll be "shown the door" soon. He's very negative and extremely tense and starting to get into disagreements with his friends such as Huebner and Offman. His demeanor on the radio is very similar to the demeanor of his beloved, Cubs.

They are both imploding.

It was George Offman not David Schuster, but anyways it was good stuff none the less. That was some hilarious radio between Murph and George Offman earlier this morning. Murph is as bad as the players, melting down at the first sign of trouble. He was crying that the Cubs are dead and should become sellers. This may or may not be true, but to hear it come from one of the loudest and most vocal spewers of Cubbie crap is really great to hear. Offman told him that was out ofo the question and Murph snapped more. Really made my drive to work a lot more enjoyable.

I woke up to his tirade about Sox fans not calling in. I will be changing the station so I will wake up to another station from now on. I used to like their show, but it's gotten out of hand, and it's not because of Murphy's lack of Sox talk. He's just gotten more annoying, and today pretty much was the final straw. For the past three years, I've woken up to their show, but this morning will be the last time. "This is will be the last time..." Great song, by the way. Les where are you?? I need a quality show to wake up to every day...

As for losing his show, well, it sucks, but you still got to bring the professional attitude. This is the second time in the past three years I've had a job that is ending. I still come on do my job like it's a regular day, eventhough I have no real incentive or motitivation to do so. It's unfair to the people I deal with if I stopped using a professional attitude.

Thanks once again for the compliment. That said,I will find out what's happening to the Station's Morning show. I got along with Murph quite well and I wish him the best.I hope he lands on his feet. I never am happy to see anyone lose a gig of any kind.
Perhaps,he will have a role there of some kind. Fred will(as of now at least)continue to do updates in the Morning. Fred & I go back to 1977 at Sportsphone.
As I have told so many(& I remain flattered so many here and elsewhere have been supporting thoughts of me being back on the air),BUT.....it's in other people's hands. Those folks being Management. If the PD's at the Score & ESPN 1000 dont want someone to host, then they dont. It's that simple and I respect that. Program Directors have the right to go with people they are comfortable with, and that's true in any business as you all know in the fields you are all in. Murph was hired first up by Drew Hayes at WLS in 1990,less than a year after Drew eliminated my Sportscasts there,so Drew and Murph have a history. Mike was then hired by WSCR(820)to do evenings-when the signal allowed in the Summer, and weekends, but by Ron Gleason and his bosses at the time in 1992.
It's amazing to me how the ratings of both Sports Stations combined have gone into the toilet. The Score was never this low when I was there--and I'm not stupid enough to think it was BECAUSE I was there, but I'd like to think I had a small role in what then were better ratings than they have now.
It was a blast to work there then, but most people I talk to there say it's no fun any more, and stress is huge at that place. Oh well!!!

Add me to the list, Grobber. Always enjoyed listening to you, though at times as a Cub fan you angered me. Here's hoping you're on the Chicago airwaves again soon. :gulp:

Oh, I know Les you've said it over and over. It sounds like both stations are in disaray, and I can't blame you for not itching to work with them again any time soon...

I will say this, i listened to the score a hell lot more when you where there and not just your show. All I really listened to was sports talk during that time, now I'm back to listening to music most of the time...

Grobber...I'll always miss listening to you...you're one of the smarter people on the radio, and PD's are threatened by you since you take BS from anyone. Our face-to-face conversations taught me that about you. If I'm ever a PD, you're hired as far as I'm concerned.

Secondly, Hangar...give another dancing troll to CBS 2 for putting out a stupid story last night. It seems as it was so slow a news day for the folks on 630 N. McClurg Court, that they sent Jon Duncanson to Piggly Wiggly Field to do a story about pigeons resting along the framework under the 3rd base upper deck, and pooping on people. They actually called the Chicago Public Health on this, and read a statement on the air saying the Department would handle the situation.

So not only are the flubs falling out the standings, and drunk fans falling out of the bleachers (or at least being escorted out by "lenient police" according to local community activists), but concrete is falling from the upper deck, and now pigeon poop is falling at Wrigley. And the birds trying to tell us something? Where's Alfred Hitchcock when you need him?

That's funny, yesterday I posted that one was more likely to get bombed by pigeons than by concrete at Piggley---and now they finally do a story on it!!

Unfortunately before they do anything about the great pit of a shrine
someone will have to either get hurt or killed by falling concrete. The more drunken people in the stands the more the stands will sway and the concrete will continue to fall. At the rate the flubs are imploding maybe the whole stadium will implode with them.

One reason might be that nearly every host is a total jackass and most of the shows suck.

Another might be the endless Bears talk no matter what season it is.

Another might be the terrible performance of the FLubs--the blue-bleeders don't like to listen when things are going against them.

Fans urinating all over, pigeons pooping on people - the shrine is turning into a giant, crumbling toilet.
