I was on redsoxnation.net yesterday and I found something interesting. It's
the baseball-reference.com oracle. It's a game based on "Six Degrees of
Kevin Bacon" where you can connect any two players in baseball history
within some degrees through teammates. I gave it a whirl and had to quit
before I got hooked. It was interesting stuff. Here's the link:

plus the ones I came up with on there:

Babe Ruth to Hank Aaron:

Ruth played with Fred Frankhouse for the 1935 Boston Braves.

Fred Frankhouse played with Sibby Sisti for the 1939 Boston Bees.

Sisti played with Hank Aaron for the 1954 Milwaukee Braves.

Pretty cool. Then how about:

Babe Ruth to Roy Hobbs:

Babe Ruth played with Fred Frankhouse for the 1935 Boston Braves

Fred Frankhouse played with Sibby Sisti for the 1939 Boston Bees

Sibby Sisti plyed the manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates in the movie
"The Natural" starring Robert Redford as Roy Hobbs. http://redsoxnation.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif http://redsoxnation.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif

Ty Cobb to Jackie Robinson:

Ty Cobb played with Bill Shores for the 1928 Philadelphia Athletics

Bill Shores played with Dixie Walker for the 1936 Chicago White Sox

Dixie Walker played with Jackie Robinson for the 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers

Frank Thomas I to Frank Thomas II:

Frank Thomas played with Dick Schofield for the 1958 Pittsburgh Pirates

Dick Schofield played with Carlton Fisk for the 1969 Boston Red Sox

Carlton Fisk played with Frank Thomas for the 1993 Chicago White Sox

Moses Walker to Jackie Robinson:

Moses Walker played with Deacon McGuire for the 1884 Toledo Blue Stockings

Deacon McGuire played with Ira Thomas for the 1907 New York Highlanders

Ira Thomas played with Herb Pennock for the 1913 Philadelphia Athletics

Herb Pennock played with Dixie Walker for the 1933 New York Yankees

Dixie Walker played with Jackie Robinson for the 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers

that site is dangerous. i got hooked on it right before exams last spring, and man did that make it hard to study. i also kept trying to use their listing of most similar players to try to go from one random player to someone i would pick on the sox just by clicking on the similar players lists at the bottom. that was tricky sometimes.
