Since he started with #27, then went to #5, then was let go, im
Thinking his fondness for single digit numbers will have him with #8 now.

The White Sox site has both Carl and Uribe wearing #5...

I think he will continue with his trend of his number moving closer to zero...so his new number will be 1/8, though he is a little big for that number, maybe something like 1/2 instead or maybe even 5/8.

Then MLB is either insanely stupid or they really do ignore us as much as we think they do.

#2 is retired.

Hey, just postin what I read there! #10 was retired for the Bulls too when BJ Armstrong wore it! So the Sox have a choice: use a retired number or have 2 guys with #5? I agree with #8; it's a low # and the Sox are famous for recycling numbers

I hope he doesn't wear #8, for some reason I've always hated that number on a uniform. Anyway, I'm glad he's back. I never wanted the Sox to let him go in the first place. He's exactly what they need offensively.

I think Everett will go back to wearing #27 because Uribe is wearing #5 now plus, at the garage sales they still had a ton of those #27 Everett jerseys left over. Since the team provides the jerseys, I can see them handing him #27 again unless he protests.

"Hey, those jerseys are expensive!"

Not attacking you, Jerko. Sorry if it came across that way. I'm commenting on the dolts at MLB not knowing that #2 is retired.

You did nothing wrong. You're a gentleman and a scholar.

As for B.J. Armstrong, he was already wearing #10 for a few years when it was retired for Bob Love, so it's kind of an exemption from the rule.

I'm pissed off that I didn't remember #2 was retired! I see it every damn day I'm at the Cell! Oh well, it's been a long day.

Well, we'll know for sure in 5 and a half hours! And #8 will always be Bo Jackson for me!

I don't think that is the case. They probably just kept his profile the same and changed the team name. He was wearing #2 in Montreal, wasn't he?

The Majestic Jersey Shop at The Cell still has several dozen Everett AL All-Star jerseys left over from last year with #27 on them ... I imagine the Sox would be more than happy to have him reclaim that number, if only to move those.

I think I need to pick me up a Carl one now.

Aidan suggested Carl Everett be traded for and allowed to wear number 8 a couple of months ago. KW must read these boards.
