What an ass...

"There are those things that are in the best, or purest, interests of baseball:
The Minnesota Twins (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/clubhouse?team=min) winning the 2004 World Series."

He annoys me to no end. The "best, purest interests of baseball"? Why, because they have a low payroll and a low attendance record to match it?

You bet.

Every owner should follow the example set by Carl Pohlad.

Gammons peddles the Twins as the "boys next door" and "Americas team". it annoys all of us to no end because we know what cocky pompous hot air bags they are. he has a one track mind when it comes to the Twins.

In the "purest" interest of the game, why should he care that a team founded in 1901 hasn't won a series since 1917 or even been in one since 1959?

way to go Pete, you tool.

Still, objectively speaking, you've got to admire what the Twins have accomplished in a small market with a low payroll. They play hard, smart fundamentally sound baseball.

This type of dribble usually runs out of his mouth once the annual realization that the Red Sox arent going to win sinks in.

He may like one of those boys next door, if you know what I mean.

Twins Joe Maurer, C, just went on the D/L. Twins are toast without his stick!

While I do hate being objective about the Twinkies, I reluctantly agree that they persevere in spite of everything that I think is wrong in baseball. Even when a small market team has some sucess, it is rarely sustainable sucess. They have to continually find the diamonds in the rough that have been skipped by others, since they'll lose most of their good FA's at first opportunity.
