No thank you.
McWhiff is only interested in getting his 7 more homers.
He has looked REAL BAD every time I've seen him this year.
Not interested.

If he were the answer, he wouldn't be getting let go by his hometown D-Rays, just short of his 500th career homer. He blows.

Still, he could serve as a nice stopgap as a left-handed hitter off the bench and part-time DH.

McGriff just seven homers short of 500"

I doubt anyone here would want him on the White Sox as a DH but I'm sure a team will pick him up so he can hit his 500 career homers. He was great in 2001-2002 for the Scrubbies but at 40 he may just be too damn old now.

No. He wants his 500 HR's. Thats all he cares about. Unless you're looking for someone who is looking to go deep everytime up, you don't want McWhiff.

Somebody will grab him. I think it's BS that Tampa Bay released him. They aren't going anywhere anyway. Let him try for 500 in your uniform.

Besides being 7 HR's short of 500, he's also only 10 hits shy of an even 2,500. If the Sox were gonna take a chance on a recently released lefty bat, though, I'd rather they picked up Olerud than the crime dog.

I agree with you, though, ATM - what would it hurt for the D-Rays to keep him?
