"Leaving their major league roster at 24, the Mariners will add a player before the resumption of play on Thursday. The delay could be to allow injured catcher Miguel Olivo to get in rehab games before being activated, though it's doubtful the Mariners will keep three catchers. The empty spot also could be making room in anticipation of a multiplayer transaction."

Obviously there are 28 other teams Seattle could be making a trade with besides for the White Sox; but because the Mariners have some interesting trade bait, I thought I'd give the heads up and let everyone speculate.

one of the Seattle papers was reporting Olerud was being taken off the roster. They are calling up 2 minor leaguers.

There were rumors last night that Gil Meche was about to be traded. Also that Bucky Jacobsen was to be promoted to the Majors today. That might explain some of it. Jacobsen won the Triple-A All-Star Game HR Derby, but did not play in the game. The only player not to do so, I do not believe.

Meche has got a hell of an arm and looked awesome against us last year...

I'd take Meche in a heartbeat.
