The belly of the Monster is no place to be if you want beer with your ballgame, or a hotdog, or a bathroom to use, or a breeze. But if you want one of the best views in baseball, sitting in one of the most hallowed icons of the game, then nothing can touch settling back in a hard metal folding chair, leaning forward to peer out one of the little viewing slots, and taking in a game from inside the scoreboard in Fenway’s Green Monster left-field wall. I've seen pictures of lonely looking staff sitting on those metal chairs peeping through the wall. Is it staff access only, or will they be opening up that section to ravenous fans as well? Is there any part of Fenway that isn't being converted to fan seating? What next, reserved seats in the bullpen? A crow's nest over the Coca-Cola bottles? The dugout???

The old parks are vastly overrated as venues for watching baseball. The aesthetic is nice. However, sit in a seat at Wrigley or Fenway and tell me you are more comfortable then a comparable Comiskey seat.

Nostalgia is for people like Bob Greene. Of course when you dig deep you find out he is nailing high schoolers.

Trust me the seats at Wrigley are nice and comfy compared to the Fenway grandstand which is very much like the Old Comiskey was.

Crows nest on the Coke bottles? Sign me up

Hey Fenway:

I've got RF Roof Box tix when the Sox are in on 8/13. Do you know anything about these seats?

There are 2 different RF Roof seats. View is fine from both, seats are modern style and little congestion at the concession stands.

Enjoy your visit

I went to a Sox vs. Boston game at Fenway in 2000. If felt like an old park with isles that are too long, obstructed views and other crap. I was surprised that the bathrooms were rehabbed and had individual urinals. I was sitting about 20 rows up from the right field pole on the first base side. My seats were facing almost straight towards center field, so the whole game you have to sit foward and to the left to watch the action. Other than that, it was a regular experience. Not the best park I've ever been to, but not the worst. That would be reserved for old riverfront in Cinci. That place sucked.
