I had trouble logging on to WSI both late last night and earlier today. Does anybody know what happened? I asked about this on the Yahoo group, youcanputitontheboard, and another Sox fan said he couldn't get WSI this afternoon either.

It was down for me, too. It was giving me a really weird search engine. I would assume the server for the website was down. It happens.

I logged on a little after 2 this afternoon and there were only 3 people online and I thought "where did everybody go?'

Thanks, that's what I thought as well. That also has happened when I have tried to get on other sports sites, including the CBS Sports site and CBS Sports personality Bonnie Bernstein's official site. In those cases, too many people may have tried to get on at one time.

According to George Bova, the facility that actually generates WSI was changed. (I think that's the correct termanology but if not, West or PHG or someone will explain it...)

The servers where WSI resides were physically moved 8 miles down the road last night. Jaime Navarro, Ken Hill, and Gord Ash were part of the moving crew so naturally it took far longer to finish the job than anybody ever thought it would.

"Was that our exit back there?"

Suffice to say the servers are back up and making friends with all the other servers, though West did have to break up a fight between an MS machine and a Sun system. Kids...

Thanks for your patience, and thanks to West for working through the night to get WSI back up in spite of the lousy help.

It happens. If you are getting a really weird search engine when a page cannot be found, some spyware has hijacked some of your browser settings. It is not dangerous, like a virus, but still pretty annoying.

Ad-aware is the best. They literally update it everyday.
