while my heart may not be used to it, i'm glad to see us winning some low scoring close games.

this is something we just weren't doing the past few years.

This was a good win. Normally the Sox struggle against rookie pitchers, but tonight they got into this kids head. He was clearly afraid to throw strikes to our big hitters. Now let's get the sweep tomorrow!

Shingo looking good again. I think the thing that impresses me most about him is that when he falls behind hitters, he somehow almost always comes back to get them.

Are there fireworks tonight? I know it was a nice night and all, but a sellout doesnt come around that often at the Cell.

Aidan

I think the move to Shingo made sense. I didn't want to see Buehrle throwing to Boone being a righty. I had nightmares of a tying homerun by Boone. I was happy that Ozzie showed confidence in the closer is of this team and the righty vs. righty matchup made sense.

Tigers beating Twinkies 4-2, bottom of the 9th. Let's go Urbina, 1-2-3!!!

Wow, Rocky Biddle got a win as a starter for Montreal over the Pirates. He had 5 innings pitched, 2 hits allowed, 3 strikeouts, 1 walk. Not bad.

The fireworkds show started very early. Was finished well before dark.

Hell of a win. I still can't get over the reaction Shingo gets when he leaves the pen. Awesome!

Buehrle pitched well, but he's no Jake Westbrook.

As much as I like it when the Sox blow somebody out, it's more comforting when they win these kinds of games.

Scrubs are winless -- and almost runless --- since sweeping the Sox last week. Looks like an emotional letdown after a big series to me; someone tell me again how the crosstown series is so much important to the Sox than the Cubs?

The only thing that had me POed with Buehrle for any period of time during the whole game (and when I'm at the games I'm easily POed) was when he immediately gave up the lead run to the Mariners after Paulie's homer. Of course that's the one single thing that pisses me off the most about our entire pitching staff.

P.S. Nancy played SH-I-N-G-O again tonight.

OH YEAH, thanks to DA SOX continuing on their most recent tear and the Twinkies losing to the Tigers, DA SOX are only a half a game out of first!!!! Despite only seeing highlights, Buehrle, who was snubbed again as far as an All-Star bid goes with Jake Westbrook getting the bid with Curt Schilling out, flat out threw another jem, and how about that "kick save" early on in the game that turned into an easy out. Anything to get an out. Also, how about Paulie with that huge homer to straight away center along with another R-B-I added. Okay, so why isn't he in the All-Star Game???? Maybe Giambi will tear up a knee or an ankle on Sunday so that Paulie will get a bid after all. I feel confident that they can finish off the Mariners on Sunday and win four in a row going into the break.

Before the series, the Sox swept the Twins = more important

After the series, the Cubs were swept by the Brewers and lose the first two of a three-game series agaisnt the Cards = more important

Most importantly, this is a good baseball day. Sox win, Twins lose, and all the rest of the stuff that makes me smile, like Rocky Biddle winning.

Buehrle's little kick save (well, the first one, that he got the out on) was nominated for a Web Gem. I didn't watch Baseball Tonight after the Sox highlights to see if it made it at the end.

I like the patient approach the Sox took tonight against the young pitcher. I was worried when they didn't score more runs in the fifth -- that usually bites us -- but Buehrle and Takatsu made it stand up. Great pitching, guys.
