SAN JUAN -- A day after putting right-hander Zach Day on the 15-day disabled list because of tendinitis in his right shoulder and a sore elbow, the Expos decided to put reliever Rocky Biddle into the starting rotation.

Biddle will start on Saturday against the Pirates. According to manager Frank Robinson, Biddle was "elated" when told by pitching coach Randy St. Claire of the move.

Best of luck to the Rock!

He hasn't been spectacular as a starting pitcher though.

To further add to the intrigue, he will be starting against Kip Wells.

Rocky started for the Sox when they called him up in 2000 and he began the 2001 season in the starting rotation. After David Wells beat Bartolo Colon on opening day in Cleveland, the Sox lost four straight until Biddle, their fifth starter, won. He struck out six Cubs in three innings in his most impressive start, but he came out with an injury that turned out to be more serious than initially believed.

The next season, Rocky came up as a reliever after that Cameron four-home run game and eventually worked his way into the starting rotation. He started the game that led to Royce Clayton's release, when Manuel asked him to pinch run and learned Clayton wasn't wearing spikes. The Sox tied the game on a two-out Frank Thomas HR in the 9th and won the game a few hitters later on a Joe Crede single.

Rocky has always wanted to start. He loved playing for the Sox and always went out on the field before the game to make friends and sign autographs. But he said the problem with pitching for Manuel was that if he allowed a base runner after the fifth inning, he would get yanked.

It was a sad day when he was traded. I hope he does well as an Expos starter. He will always be my favorite Sox pitcher.

He should be relieved, i dare to say he was a worse closer than Botch this season.

It's weird that the Expos started a guy that's 0-4 out of the Pen, but good job rocky! And a whole 8,780 people got to see him!
