Our offensive problems are based on protection, as far as I've seen. This is going to be solved by a healthy Frank and Maggs back in the lineup. It's been going on since the Cubs series. Without these guys in the lineup, none of the hitters are seeing any form of pitch to hit. A pitcher can nibble around the plate and possibly walk a guy b/c he doesn't have to worry about the guy behind picking 'em up. So, how do we solve it? By being aggressive on the first pitch and not letting guys get far into a count. That worked for a while, but now the pitchers have adjusted by throwing offspeed stuff on first pitch.
What needs to happen (and it will) is having our power guys back in the heart of this lineup. You have to pitch to someone amongst Lee, Konerko, Magglio, Frank, or Jose. Things will pick up, but I hope we have don't have a huge hole to climb out of by the time we can pick it up.
