I agree. Trade Maggs before Frank. Frank should be the face of this franchise until he retires.

Don't we have someone besides Burke who could DH? Paulie DH and Gload at first is better than Burke DH.

I dont see any other reason than this. If Frank is traded, i will be ROYALLY PISSED OFF.

He took a shot to his foot and isn't feeling so well. That's why he isn't playing today.

So we just spent almost a week bitching that in NL parks the Sox don't have Maggs OR Thomas. So now at home, a game and a half behind the Twins, against a pretty good team, we don't have Maggs or Thomas. This team and their mental midgetness year after year is starting to get to me, from the manager on down, no matter who the manager is. Whoo, we have such a great offense, the run differential is outstanding, we hit so many homers, our 3rd best starter is an All-Star, we had a closer go 28 inning w/o giving up a run, and we're 5 whole games over 500.   I am starting to see why. Gee, Thomas goes into a funk because he's not getting playing time, so bench him????????????????

Or not.

Frank took a shot in the foot today, that's why he isn't in the lineup. He's been having foot pains. Per ESPN 1000.

So that shoots down your theory, Homefish...

Classic WSI....not waiting to hear the whole story. Maybe people should find out why he is not playing before bitching. :whiner:

You know, the needle? A shot, I don't know how else to explain it. He's had an aching foot.

Wasn't sure if it meant he'd fouled a pitch off his foot, or what. I sure hope this isn't the same problem he had about five years ago.

That was the ankle bone spur, right? Hopefully not, that killed that season.

Since Frank is out, Uribe should be the DH and Harris, our best second baseman, should be playing 2B.

I'd rather have Harris' speed and defense in the lineup, than Burkes' right handed bat. Plus, Harris needs playing time to break out of his funk which was induced by lack of playing time.

Yeah, rumored to be the six of a golf ball.

:o:

Anyone with more of a podiatric bent than me care to explain if that type fo thing can recur or is more the result of a freak injury? Hopefully this isn't a thing that'll recur periodically, that would be typical Sox luck - right after making a big deal and being positioned relatively well for a run at the playoffs and possibly the WS to lose one of our core offensive players.

MLB.com has posted the lineups, and Thomas is not going for the Sox. That seems odd with Washburn on the hill, because IIRC Frank went deep of Wash twice last year at the Cell, with the second being the game winner. Regardless of poor career numbers against Wash, I would put my chips on Frank going deep again.

Our lineup has gone from Maggs, Hurt, Lee, Konerko, Valentin batting 3-7 to Lee, Konerko, Crede, Valentin, Burke (tonight's DH). Just not as scary.

Frank is nursing a sore foot. He should be fine by tomorrow.

Wonderful. Why wasn't anything said about this during the weekend? At least then we would have had another reason as to why Frank didn't play in those games, either.

It's time for the Frank Thomas Watch.
