That is absolutly pitaful. This team is so weak in NL parks, no DH and our pitcher hitting really mean we are that bad. Jheesh. I for one saw this coming after we lost 2 of 3 to MONTREAL!!!!! And were lucky to win game 1 against florida, they walked in the run and made an error, just luck. Seriosuly though we cannot compete in NL parks we are way to weak. Although we should be back to our hitting ways against Lackey and Washburn, Sele is tough though.

When you flail at bad pitches, don't know how to bunt and pop up with men in scoring position, I'm not sure it matters whether there was a DH or not. Didn't see Frank exactly light it up in his pinch-hitting opportunities; don't know if he would've done a lot more if he were able to play DH. Crede was just awful in the Cub series, and Willie Harris has to get on base and cannot be considered a leadoff hitter at this time. And I think even AL pitchers should be able to at least bunt the ball. NO DH didn't help, but the Sox just didn't get it done this year in interleague baseball. Their inconsistency has been driving me nuts for years.

Yeah doesn't bode well if we make it to the world series does it?

I like our chances a lot more if we have Maggs in the lineup.

Of the seven losses, I can't find a single one where were were flat out dominated. In fact, three of them came in the final AB.

During his entire career, Frank has sucked at pinch hitting. He is the type of hitter who needs to be warm.

The one silver lining I see about playing in NL parks is that the early and middle relief was exposed for what it is - not that good. When these guys were forced to come into a close game because Ozzie had to pinch hit for the pitcher, they didn't respond (a certain game up in Montreal was just one example).

Gang:

I feel your pain but let's be realistic here. How many runs do you expect the Sox to score WITHOUT Maggs, WITHOUT the DH and WITH the pitcher batting?

This is the worst record the Sox have ever had in the N.L. portion of interleague games. Obviously the Sox could and have compensated for the loss of the DH in the past, but losing Ordonez on top of this was to much for them to overcome. (Another testiment by the way to how valuable this guy is!)

I do agree though and this was talked about late last night on The Sporting News radio network that as much as Ozzie has tried to play small ball, this team is awful on the fundamentels and basically can only score runs when they hit the home run.

That may change in a few years as the team is made over in Ozzie's image and he actually gets the players to do something during spring training (unlike Manager Gandhi) but it's not there right now.
