Anywhere I go, I'm gonna be harrassed to no end.

I'm known as the biggest Sox fan in my neighborhood and at work. I certainly won't hear the end of this.

The Cubs are still out of first. We are IN first. It's just nice to be out of those retarded National League parks. It would've been better with Maggs. Them's the breaks, and we're still in good shape.

This should be nothing new if you've been a fan for a long time.We Sox fans have to be tough and show no fear.
Just be glad that the Sox don't have to play in that ****ing dump, the call a ballpark.

Agreed, keep your head up, we still look good, we still have the edge on the Cubs since 1997, not even a sweep could catch them up. The Sox will be there in October, Cubs could be in last before then, now that Pittsburg has won 9 in a row(haha just what they need another hot team in their division)

SUGGESTION:

Wear all of your Sox gear whenever possible tomorrow. Whenever a Flubs fan comes up to you and starts to talk...Just laugh. Start laughing, whatever they say, laugh laugh laugh. Then walk away still laughing and say "yeah we're still in first, no big thang." Then offer them some "goat milk"

Then give them one of these http://www.feedmedogfood.com/fing08.gif

not a bad idea, it is easy to get flub fans upset, esp ones that dont know their own team, quiz some fake fans on the history of their team

Last year during the playoffs I wore my Sox gear pretty much every day. The look on Cub fans faces was classic! They had no idea what to say.

This thread is making me smile, that's good.

Want a good way to bust fake Cub fans? Say this, "There are 25 men who play for the Cubs. Name 10." The bandwagoner Cub fan will say Sammy, Wood and Prior and maybe a couple others. Then, they will stutter and stammer and fail to answer the question adequately. Then, you point your finger and laugh and howl and call them a pathetic, go-along-with-the-crowd sheep. They don't even know their own players. I've actually executed this twice. Try it out.

If any girl Flub fans come at cha, and they mention anything about the sweep, ask them "Yeah that's nice, now can you please hop back on your broom and fly back to where you came from"

I'd hate to have bandwagoners if the Sox make it to the WS....

just be the bigger man and say "hey you guys definitely outplayed us"

but we outplayed them 4/6 last year and look what that got them.
i'll take being swept by the cubs anyday if it means an ALCS berth.

I bet all the "Sox fans" who voted in that poll were undercover Cubs fans

Better yet, pour a bucket of water on them and see what happens. Well, we all saw the effect that had on the Wicked Witch of the West.

:supernana::supernana::supernana:

I would love to, but I am going to bite my tounge so hard tomorrow and just laugh, act like it's no big deal, and just quiz them like everyone is saying. Oh that is SOOOO fun. And because I'm a fairly young girl, guys ALWAYS assume I don't know anything about baseball. When I'm perfecting my craft at talking crap to Flub's fans, they ask me to "name three players on the Sox" So I usually start with the catcher, work my way counter clockwise around the field, list the pitching, then the bullpen. Flubs fans are left looking stupid, I then ask them to do the same...they list MAYBE 6 players!!!

Suck it up - that's all we can do.

But the end goal is not to win 4 of 6 in this series. The end goal is to win the World Series. And the honest truth is that both teams have a good shot at making it to the World Series. So hold your head up high - wear your Sox gear around, and keep your fingers crossed. A good series or two before the break and we could put some distance between us and the Twins.

That's the end game - winning the AL Central, then winning the ALCS, then winning the World Series. The three games we just played mean the same as any three games (even less than the three we just played vs the Twins).

I agree with what most people are saying...BFD. the cubs beat the Sox without the 2 best hitters on the team in the lineup. good for them. all that they need to worry about is getting Maggs healthy and ready for the offseason push.

Oh that's right. Let's just bench all the starters now, we don't need them. We don't need to play anymore games. Since the Cubs just won the World Series

I'm in the same boat as you, and yes it does suck. I've been handling it by saying "it's ok. You guys HAVE to take a series once in a blue moon, otherwise it isn't really a rivalry." That seems to do the trick. You can then follow it with a crack about a blind squirrel occasionally finding a nut or something to that effect.

Anyway, I think we'll have plenty of smack to talk come september/october!:bandance:

Them's the breaks, and we're still in good shape.I agree...Ed Farmer needs to get his priorities in order a bit. He always says he hates the DH rule, but where would the Sox be without it? 3rd place, that's where.

Wise advice. When the Sox have beaten the Scrubs in the past I've never rubbed it in with Scrub fan friends (although I have with fellow Sox fans). If they dog you about it screw them, they're poor sports and you'll show you're a bigger person than they are.

Same here. I have a couple of Cub-fan friends who won't give me crap about it because they know I have had my share of opportunities in the past to rub it into them, and for me I'd just rather be a good sport. So if you are one to dish it out, you better be prepared for payback, which is likely to come around in due time. Sox have had pretty good success against the Cubs for the most part, but you can't expect it 100% of the time. (I'd love if it happened, but that's not realistic). That's why I think sportmanship is your best option.

But hey, that's just me....

Or did they win the World Series last night?

the sun shines on a dog's a** every now and again doesnt it? I found today that casually reminding a flubbie fan that "the cubs really ought to be able to beat the sox in the season series every once in a while - it HAS been since 1998 since the sox have lost it afterall"

They usually look at you funny when you say that because they only started to pay attention to the cubs half way through last season and have no idea that the sox hold the edge on the cubs. :)
