In the Daily Southtown today there is a quote from Buerhle.

"I have no worries (about security) whatsoever," Buehrle said. "I'm sure there will be some people in the stands that have had too much to drink, but you expect that in Wrigley Field."I'm sure there's going to be a few fights, but it's nothing compared to the amount of fights that go on at our park (U.S. Cellular Field)." :(:

Thanks Mark, just keep adding to the hate thrown on your team.

Wow, I always disregard the cardinal comments, but this comment is :bs:. I'm really disappointed because buehrle is one of my favorites. I'm really suprised because he's a cards fan and they should know as well as us that cub fans are the ones that cause all the trouble. Thanks chicago media goonsquad for portraying this image of us sox fans

I'm a lifelong Sox fan and HATE the way the team and its fans are portrayed in this town's Cub-whipped media. However, Buerhle's right here. There are fights at Sox games - too many, in my opinion - and there is a certain small element of Sox fandom that is, quite frankly, thuggish. Morons like that Sun-Times columnist obviously over-exaggerate this for their own purposes, but sometimes Sox fans are their own worst enemy by giving him the opportunity.
Don't get me wrong, there is an equal - if not larger - contingent of jerks at the Urinal, but for whatever reason the punches fly less frequently there.
Rather than getting all upset over Buerhle stating what most of us know to be true (unfortunately), we should be demanding better from Sox fans and the Sox organization to keep the bad element in line at our ballpark.
Just my thoughts.

Buehrle really needs to learn shut his mouth. This is just sad.

That's because they wait until they get outside the park. :D:

As we all know nothing that happens outside the park counts.

A guy I work with has been to three Cub games this year and he said at least five fights broke out each game. You don't hear about it because the Cubune is hardly going to report bad stuff at Wrigley. Both sides of towns have their issues, but only one side gets the bigger flack.

As I said on another thread I started (in the Parking Lot), we ought to give first-hand accounts of problems at Wrigley, and tonight's game is a perfect opportunity to do that. I'm certainly not deluded enough to think that spreading the word at WSI that Wiggley's not immune to problems will make a practical difference, but every little bit helps.

I think from now on, all of our players take the Hawkins approach to the media. DON'T SAY ANYTHING!!!

As Ted Williams said, the dumbest guy on the field during the game is the pitcher. Buehrle needs to **** and pitch better games.

The Sox need to implement a "gag-order" for their players. Everytime one of them talks to the media, he says something stupid. Buehrle is really starting to get on my nerves again. All he's done the past few years is say negative things about the Sox organization. If he doesn't want to be here, that's his business. But as long as he is here, he needs to show the organization more respect. After all, they're the ones who gave him his first chance in the Majors. It would be nice if he showed some appreciation, instead of finding ways to descredit them.

I am starting to get tired of paying attention to the media. I like Hangar's media watch - but for crying out loud - everyone isn't against us. Everything said/done isnt a great conspiracy against the Sox.

If we go out there and take care of things on the field, the media won't be able to stop us. I am more worried about Buehrle on the hill than Buehrle infront of a mic.

What is wrong with what he said? It's true. There are fights at the Cell, much like at any other sporting event. That is no secret. Heck, Tuesday night home games have been renamed "Tuesday Night at the Fights" a few times on this board. It is a problem that the Sox must address. I agree with jabrch. Everyone in the media is not out to get the Sox. Similarly, every negative report about the Sox is not media bias. There are fights at the Cell; anyone who has been to a Tuesday night home would say there are too many fights. I think Sox fans should be more concerned with his pitching than his statements to the media.

You beat me to it, I was going to ask what was so bad with what he said.

He didnt say anything that wasn't true.

If you dont want him to say things like this, then stop fighting at the park.

Okay, I'll stop fighting when I'm there Wednesday. So will all the rest of us at the next game we attend.
