HOW MUCH DO YOU HATE THE CUBS?

 FOR ME, IT'S WITH ALL MY HEART. I'M PART OF THE CUBS SUCK CLUB and I do not buy any products that support the cubs. How about you?

Let me just put it this way... if Wrigley Field burned to the ground, I don't think I'd ever be able to stop laughing.

It's not the franchise so much that bothers me, it's all the obnoxious bandwagon-jumpers that piss me off. Wrigley is obviously a special place to see a game; no question about that. Players come and go; yeah, the Cubs have Sosa, but we once had Albert Belle, you know? Like I said in other posts, most cradle Cub fans, though misguided, don't try to shove the Cubs down your throat. It's all these loud, young peckerwoods, most of whom probably weren't even born in Chicago, that infest the ballpark these days; people who don't understand the game and generally go there simply to party and to be seen. And yes, the Chimp is also insufferable, but it looks like the Cubs might have the good sense to launch his sorry ass after the season. And we also have Chicago's #1 Cub fan, Jay Marriotti; no further explanation required. So I guess there are several reasons why I, a native North Sider, discovered the truth early and stayed there to this day. Go Sox!

Every Sox fan should hate the Cubs. It's part of being a Sox fan. I remember I was once on here reading and some guy was saying he likes both. Personally I think that's just wrong.

I've talked to people who like both teams. I agree that there's something wrong with it. Choosing a favorite baseball team is like choosing which girl to go to the prom with. It's one or the other, not both.

I'm pretty sure the majority of baseball fans are fans of both teams. But recently they tend to lean towards the Cubs for obvious reasons.

i hate them...i'm a sox fan...to me, you can't be both.

was there people during the civil war actually rooting for both sides?

no...you were either union or confederate.

we are looked down upon as a baseball team...the city of chicago (the parent) has two children (sox and cubs).

we seem to be the bastard child who was conceived in a back alley of one of the bad neighborhoods while the cubs are the yuppy pricks up there in boystown.

i've always said though, that there's one thing i hate more than the cubs...and that is cubs fans...especially bandwagon cubs fans...the ones who go to wrigley to drink, socialize, and take pictures because it's such a "cool" place.

but then again, there are no such thing as cubs fans...there are wrigley fans.

Last fall while the sCrUBS were in the playoffs was the closest thing to Hell on Earth for me.My Mother, who knows how I feel about this, said I should "root for Chicago". Huh?!?! My sister and brother in law (both sCrUBS fans) would never "root for Chicago" if the Sox made the playoffs.Thank God the sCrUBbies CHOKED IN GAMES 6 AND 7 !!

This is a Hatfields and Mccoys thing.sCrUBs fans don't like us,we hate them, too. At least most of them.I met one last Sunday who bought me a beer.I politely refused,as I don't drink beer.I didn't catch his name, but if he's ever at Sox Park again,I owe him one.He was the sole voice of sanity in sCrUBbie blue.

I was born and raised a sox fan. My grandpa lived on the South Side, and he used to always go to the games. I am a ture sox fan, altough i dont know that much about the history. I am a huge anti-cubs fan. I hate them so much. Every thing that happens to them, including sosa, i just f---ing hate them. And their fans too. I cant stand talking to them. Theyre so annyoing! Jesus Christ! I tell them that the sox are better becuase theyve betean them more times, and they bring up, "SOSA HIT A HOME RUN" or "WOW THEIRE RECORD IS WAY BETTER" I just cant stand them. I HATE THEM ALL!

I got the "you should root for Chicago" treatment from some people last fall too, and I have to agree that is total BS. The Cubs and Wrigley Field are a part of Chicago that I will NEVER be able to identify with. I come from a working-class family, and I was raised to be humble. People who support the Cubs are just downright arrogant and self-important. They will seize any opportunity they get to wag their finger in your face and try to put you down. On the rare occasions they do win, they are the least gracious people on the face of the planet. For some reason, they have decided that they are special, and that makes it impossible not to dislike them. Even when the Sox beat the Cubs, they still come up with various reasons why they are "superior" to us. It's really rather ridiculous.

The topic of this thread asks the question, "How much do you hate the Cubs?" Well, let me put it to you this way: I'm not sure I could root for the Cubs if they were playing al-Qaeda. In terms of baseball, you're either with me or you're against me. And if you're with the Sox, then I'm right there with you. There's no sitting on the fence allowed at my house.

I'm pretty sure the majority of baseball fans are fans of both teams. What the heck are you talking about? Baseball fans in general? If so, most of them couldn't care less about the Sox. Chicago baseball fans? The only ones who are fans of both teams are those who are generously called casual fans or little kids who just love any baseball (and I don't begrudge them.) Any real Chicago baseball fan over twelve years old has to choose. That's just the way it is.

I've hated them all my life because I was brought up that way by my dad. But this past October, my hatred skyrocketed for the team on the other side of town due to all of the bandwagon fans and the love and attention they got from the "balanced" Chicago media sources. I hate seeing all these freshly new cubs hats and jerseys. I take pride in the fact that the white sox logo on my hat isn't white anymore because of all the dirt that has gotten into it from wearing it every day for years, win or lose. Seeing all of the cell phone idiots at the urinal on TV bug the heck out of me and I hate and cannot believe how the morons still celebrate Sosa. Yesterday's huge banner in the bleachers that said "Wrigley Field is Heaven and Sammy Sosa is God" almost made me hurl. And I cannot believe those morons could badmouth OUR announces when they have the likes of Chip Caray and RON FREAKIN SANTO! Are the cubs and their fans lovable? heck no. are they both losers? YES!

Fans in general? NOOOOO!!! Sorry for not clarifying that one. I meant Chicago fans. I still believe the "fans of both teams" are the majority, the silent majority if you will. But like I said, they tend to lean towards the Cubs, because it is shoved down their throats to believe it is a safer family environment over at the Shrine.

I would like to hope Old Style got a few fans answer their "What would you do to see the Cubs win the World Series?" with this simple request:

"I'd rather drop dead." :D:

LOL my dad said the same exact thing to me. I hate the cubs more then anything I hate their team, I hate their dump of a park, I hate their fans, I just hate the cubs, the playoffs last year were absolutely awful for me, I live in the worst place in the world when it comes to being around cub fans and last october was hell on earth no doubt about that.

I work the 2nd/afternoon shift at my place of employment. Every time a Chicago team is in the playoffs (or the Bears are on), I'm the one who turns the radio on and keeps people up-to-date on what is happening.

There are two Sox fans: me and another guy. The rest were all bandwagon Cubs fans. "Oh, wouldn't it be so wonderful if the Cubs win?"

Needless to say, a couple of "Cub fans" wanted to start fights after they blew their chances. :bandance:

I'm not sure what is more annoying, the team or the fans. Did anyone notice the first game following the Cubs clinching their division last year. They were showing fans in the stands. Instead of them cheering how they were no. 1, they were yelling "sox suck"!! Let's not cheer for their team, lets dis the sox instead! I hear from Cub fans how I should root for the Cubs just because it is a Chicago team. I dont think so! They would obviously not cheer for us. I get very annoyed at the Cub fan attitude of how could you be anything other than a Cub fan? I would stop watching baseball before I root for the Cubs. I know so many people that go the Shrine to drink and party at the bars afterwards. Now there's a good reason to go to a baseball game. The Shrine is a pit. Getting to the Shrine is a PIA.(Not that I have done that many times in my life, thank God).
The Cub announcers, radio and TV, suck!!
The Cubune is so biased! And one of the most annoying of all, is the smug Shammy hop!!

I hate the Flub fans the most, i have a little respect to the Flub fans that know their team and follow, but since 95% of Flub fans couldnt name the starting line up what good are they?

The thing I hate most about Cubs fans is their arrogance. Thy cannot comprehend why anyone would not root for their team because they have swallowed all the Cubby crap whole. They honestly believe that the Cubs are America's team for the simple fact that they suck and have sucked for a long period of time. To be perfectly honest about it, I almost feel sorry for them more than I hate them. Many of them associate themselves with a team merely because it is the thing to do and will never grasp the beauty of the game. It is unfortunate, really.:(:

So much so, that this word has been eliminated from my vocabulary, unless I am talking about "young carnivorous mammals, such as a bear, fox or lion".
When referring to the organization that pretends to be a baseball team, on the North side of Chicago, a more fitting and accurate name, per Webster's Dictionary, I use the word, SCRUBS - Look it up !!!

The Good News, is that the TOTALLY BIASED Tribune Company, aside from losing Tons of Credibility, as a media organization, while their stadium is crumbling, is starting to get pressured from it's shareholders - not as Baseball fans, but as to why do they continue to own that piece of trash...And as anyone with any Investor experience knows, shareholders will have the Final Vote!! (YEAH !!) See Ya - Wouldn't wanna be ya!! GO WHITE SOX

I was laughing when pieces of the upper deck were falling down. I was also laughing at the SOX vs cub game at wrigley when 2 wrigley fans were actually thinking sammy sosa still played for the cubs. I laughed more whenthe wrigley faithfull littered the field when AJ hit the homerun of ryan Dumpster in the 9th inning.

To Cadieuxgr:

1) We don't resurrect two-year-old threads here. People who do so have a short lifespan around here. Consider this to be your sole warning.

2) A lot of folks around here don't cotton to "flubsession," i.e. obsession with the Chicago National League Baseball Club. People have been banned for short periods of time for wearing their flubsession on their sleeve.

Please heed these bits of advice.
