Boy does Beltran sure like teeing off on Chicago pitchers. I for one am glad he isn't doing it to the White Sox anymore and is now giving the Cubs fits. Homerun to tie the game on Tuesday and a homerun to win the game yesterday.

Just tied the game at 4-4 with his 2nd HR of the day. I think that gives him 4 HR in the 3 game series.

2 DONGS and 4 RBI today to tie it up against the Cubbies! I think We should make a 20 Million dollar per year offer on this fact alonE!!!

Lots of bitching on the Cubs message boards about Dusty's "stupid" move (pulling Prior and putting in Mercker). Pulling your star pitcher recently back from rehab after throwing 140+ pitches and giving up a double and a walk that inning was a good move. Mercker was a pretty good match up as well but Beltran just got a hold of him. All you can do is tip your cap to the hitter and move on...

The Astros are desperately trying to give the game back. They've been a huge disapointment this year.

Not anymore. Pitched out of a bases loaded jam to end the 8th and now have a runner on with no outs in the 9th!

It would be great to see the Cubs blow this game. See them come into this weekend's series on a low and the Sox on a high would give us a big boost this weekend at the World's Largest Singles Bar.

Beltran due up in the tenth... Let's hope they get to him!

Beltran up second. Seeing how he has been hitting lately, if you are Baker would you treat him like Bonds?

A Beltran homer (followed by an Astro win) would be insane.

Funny side-note:

Kerry Wood got a scare when he was hit under the chin by a line drive Thursday in his final simulated game, but he was fine.
Wood, on the disabled list since May 12 with a sore triceps muscle, had no other problems while throwing 60 pitches today. He's expected to start for Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, and he could come off the DL on the 10th or the 11th. Jul. 1 - 3:04 pm et

I wouldn't mind this one going about 23 innings. Really use up that bullpen.

I second that Fungo! Their bullpen is the pits anyway--get them tired would be even better!

Think that they would throw Zambrano if it went 23 innings, after all this is a division game and the games against the Sox really don't matter according to the media and all the Cubs fans?

What about Kerry Wood making a miraculous recovery coming in and striking out 21 hitters to break his own record to hold it himself and the Cubs winning in 28 innings just so Cubs fans can go around and brag they won the longest game ever played.

Berkman 0-5, Bagwell 0-4...what is wrong with the Astros?

This Leicester guy's ERA is starting to get really low. Somebody has to him him hard, and soon.

That's why he was the highest vote-getter for the Cubs Bullpen on the All City team!

I never saw the finaly tally on that... Did the Trib Just drop it?

Well damnit anyway. When I posted that I was being sarcastic. I hate Cubs fans acting like he's a messiah. He damn sure loves that spotlight though.

Who knows- they're certainly not getting their money's worth. When I heard some people talking about the Astros dealing Beltran later this month, I thought that was crazy talk, but if they keep playing poorly and stay in fourth or fifth, that might happen.

Houston has traded away their future to win this year and they are blowing it. Will they fire Williams mid-season to try and pull a Marlins McKeon style?
