Time for the Sox to start pulling ahead in the division and who better than newly acquired starter Freddy Garcia? I was just curious as to how you think his first game in a White Sox uniform will go?

I'll tell you in about 24 hours :)

Seriously though, you can't judge a guy based on one start. The board is so divided between the "Garcia is God" and "Olivo, Reed were God" people that no matter what Freddy does, someone will be upset.

I dont think it will be anything overly impressive, but I think he will have a solid 7 ip 3 ER type of game

I hope he goes out and pitches really well, and we score some runs for him.

Otherwise we will have 300 threads talking about how we made a mistake for going out and getting a pitcher.

No matter how he pitches tomorrow, I think he will be good for us.

Good luck tomorrow FG!!!

I am not worried about Freddie at all - I am more worried about the run support. If my memory serves me correctly, we havent fared well vs. Radke in the past. I am optimistic tho.

I agree, I'd like a good performance for a couple of reasons: 1) to win and go a game up over the Twinkies; 2) to get some solidarity behind Freddy for the rest of the way out.

You seem to be predicting a ton of walks for Garcia. If Garica goes 6.2 innings and gives up 3 runs, he probably wont have walked 5

I dont think it will be great. It could even be bad. But Im not gonna judge him or the trade by how tomorrow goes. Remember that he is human. Hes had a stressful few days with changing teams leaving a town he has always played in at the major league level. He will be more nervous than in most starts. I hope he does well.

Horrible outings, just horrible . I can't believe we traded for this guy and he's had no success against our division rival. You idiot KW! And that was with Stewart and took place when the Twins actually knew how to score a few runs. Combine that Twins slump in and we might see a very good outing from Freddy

I just love how on chicagosports.com that the Cubs winning is the main story because obviously the Cubs getting within 3.5 of St Louis is bigger than the White Sox reclaiming first place

7 innings, 0 runs. This is going to be a very low scoring game though with Radke going for the Twins.

Radke is going to get rocked tonight. All Garcia has to do is keep us in the game.

With 26 K's. That other out is a long fly ball to CF that is caught on it's way out.

I'll take either one of those lines and feel great about my chances.

Final Line:

6.0 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 9 K, 3 HR

W/L: ???

looks like of all the scenarios, the first was closest to the truth, although he gave up one more earned run, struck out almost twice as many, and walked NONE.

I wasn't expecting a shutout. Gave us a chance to win, that's all you can ask for out of any starter.

I overshot the BB column, that is for sure. I like having a strikeout pitcher! Good first game!

Well said. Considering who he'd have been replacing in the rotation (Rauch or Diaz), I'm happy. Got to also believe he was a little jacked up for his first start for his new team in a game where first place in the division teeters on the outcome... He hasn't pitched in a game this meaningful all year.
