This is a very difficult question for two reasons:

Diaz proved he can beat the Cubs
Rauch was the first to come up as our 5th starter and win, and was originally planned to continue in that role until we lost Schoeny and gained Garcia, causing Diaz to be given his big chance.
I say we start Rauch, since he was first, and the Cubs might figure Diaz out. It might be good to hit them with someone brand new again.

I think this is a question for Saturday's game - Loaiza is due to pitch after his 4 days of rest.

we can do w/o a fifth sarter this weekend

though i voted for rauch b/c he's (and this is my opinion) the best fifth starter we've had this year (diaz's last performance was as a fourth starter)

Voting Rauch.

The flubs seem to have the same problem we tend to have facing a pitcher we have never seen before. In one of the interviews w/ Baker after losing to Diaz, he stated that they always have problems facing pitchers they have never seen. If we throw Rauch at them, they will already have a confidence problem.

With the day off on Monday, do we really need to have the no. 5 spot pitch on Friday? Why not Esteban on Friday, Mark on Sat, and Garcia for Sunday?

Yes. It doesnt make sense to have Garcia and Buehrle both go on 3 days rest

Rauch, he gave up only 1 run in 5 innings against the 2nd best AL offense. Rauch earned our trust back and needs another try.

Ozzie mentions that Diaz will probably start because of the way he pitched against the Flubs last time, that he "earned another start against them"
