CBS 2 News does an interesting take on Cubs vs. Sox

Hey...

First of all, I'll be at the Cell today to see the Sox spank the living daylights out of the Flubs. Secondly, I saw a piece on the CBS 2 News this morning that was pretty interesting. Jim Williams, a former media spokesperson for "hizzonerable, Da Mare", and a long time TV news veteran, did a piece about why the Cubs/Sox feud is so big here. He said...and you'll be able to see for yourself in the linked video, that there's a "sociological" element to why there's deep angst between Cubs and Sox fans.

If this story isn't on the main page, then click on the "Top Videos" banner on top of whatever the stories are, and look for it in the listings that appear.

They under-played the sociological aspects. I have posted elsewhere on WSI some of my ideas on this and won't rehash them here.


At any rate, it goes beyond who your family rooted for, etc. The divide for me has always been intertwined the socio-economic differences as well.

Even though he mentions this in his piece, Williams says he is a Cubs fan from the south side. He worked as an Andy Frain usher at both Wrigley Field and old Comiskey Park. He took a ribbing from anchors Mary Ann Childers and Antonio Mora, who said he was a Sox fan because of his pro-south side slant on this story.
