As said on George Ofman's 2:00 update, KW has been reportedly talking w/ Atlanta to acquire Russ Ortiz for Rauch and minoir league hitters. He also said it is more likely that the sox will get moyer from seattle rather than garcia.

Call me crazy, but I have a feeling that KW will have someone new to suit up before the Twins series next week. Especially, if we lose to the Cu....WHICH WE WON'T.

Any info on who's included from our camp?

I know there were rumors about him coming for CLee during the 2002-03 off-season, so there has been prior interest.

I didn't really care for Ortiz, but now Schoenweiss is out, and I wan't this done ASAP, but I guess we would still have to start Diaz if Rauch would be gone

Although one start has not convinced me he is a good pitcher, we may need to make a trade that does not include Rauch depending on the severity of Schoenweiss's injury. Either that or we might have to aquire 2 pitchers.

I really don't think Russ Ortiz could pitch much better than Rauch and that's not an infatuation with Rauch talking. Ortiz walks too many guys, I can't see him with an ERA much below the high 4s in the AL.

I don't want Rauch going anywhere, especially to Atlanta for Ortiz. I'll go on record to say that Rauch's time has come. I think the leaving early incident was the best thing that could have happened to him. I think it woke him up. Just a gut feeling.

I would much rather give up someone else besides Rauch.

I think we must keep Rauch. His debut was aweful, but then he rebounded with a great outing from a team we split 2-2 with.

We should keep him but really only because Schoney is injured

The Score is still reporting that this trade could happen. I am not sure if I want to get rid of Rauch just yet, however.

All these great sources (Levine and the Score) it's not "if" it's "when."

I like Rauch, but Ortiz has been a model of consistency in his career. He's a 20-game winner, an innings eater, and every bit as good as Freddy Garcia. I would willingly give up "Rauch and minor league hitters" for him as long as the minor league hitters are named Borchard and not Reed. I assume that's the holdup with Garcia: Seattle wants someone we don't want to give up.

If Atlanta is indeed willing to trade Ortiz, that also gives KW a negotiating tool with Bavasi.

Does anyone know Ortiz's contract status?

Ortiz is playing on a team option this year, and is a FA next year.

I rather have Garcia. I realize we probably won't get Sheets from MIL since he's their only attraction. I would be all up for getting Ortiz if we already had Garcia so we could move Rauch and Shoey into the bullpen where I think they're best suited.

The Sun Times said to get Ortiz, the Sox will have to give up Rauch and most likely one of our highly touted outfield prospects in Anderson or Sweeney. Not sure I am willing to give up one of those guys for a rent a pitcher who is good, but may not be the answer.

I read in the Sun Times that it would be Rauch and probably one of either Sweeney or Anderson.

Rauch and Anderson/Sweeney for Russ Oritz??? Are you kidding me Kenny? Or is the Sun Times kidding?
