I'm pretty nervous about this one. Are we screwed here?

A guy at work said that we'll be fine, but I'm not so sure. Zambrano was tough on us twice last year, we never saw Maddux, and Prior is always tough.

I just worry about I know how much our pitchers have been giving up runs. Can we outscore our crappy pitching of late?

For some reason I like our chances...We got some good fast ball hitting guys on our team, Rowand, Thomas, Paulie and Uribe. We are due for a little streak, CUbs are do for a losing one....Maddux might beat us. I like our chances the other two.

I think with a combination of our players getting up for these games and our hitters matching up well against "power pitchers" (worked out great against Sabathia...); the match-up's really don't bother me, too much.

We'll score some runs, we just need some good, solid innings from our starters and not hand the ball to Mike Jackson.

I just have an uneasy feeling about this series. I hate the pit in my stomach.

Did anyone see Jose Valentin on the Channel 2 News (where he's at the zoo) guaranteeing that the Sox will win all 3 this weekend? He said it with a laugh but still Antonio Mora and whoever else was on the set didn't think it was a smart move.

I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned more in the media.

Prior, Zambrano, and Maddux are going get sick of me this weekend.

That's a guarantee.

This series I am not looking forward to that much. I think we can get to Prior and Maddux. However, our pitchers must keep their offense in check. What Valentín did I am not comfortable with because it provides bulletin board material for the Cubs.

If we perform badly this weekend, we'll never hear the end of it.

I think we need to win 2 out of 3 so we're playing well heading into our series with Minnesota.
What worries me is that this team is having a overhyped crossotown series with a series against our divisional rival sandwiched in between.
The intensity level will have to remain high.
But as far as the team we're playing. We can beat these guys. We have the bats.
"Cool Breeze" Garland needs to keep his head in the game all 9 innings or however long he's in there and on Saturday we need A LOT of offense.which will be tough against Zambrano
Sundays at home have been good to us and I think this one will be no exception.

So money,Drink a Bacardi Raz, smoke a Virginia Slim, and Chill out.

We need to just put it together like we did in 2000 when we play Cleveland for 3 and NY for 4 and took them all. We can do it begin the underdog, but everything has to go right for us.

I'm a little concerned about facing power pitchers with the shadows moving in. The Prior and Zambrano games both start at 3.

Hopefully the Sox can get Prior's pitch count to climb early as he is on one about 100 pitches or so.

Aramis Ramirez will also be a tough out

You can usually throw out pitching matchups for this series because most of the games have been tied or very close late in the game. Most of the games will come down to a battle of bullpens and I like ours better.

As long as LaTroy Hawkins isn't in too much. We never seem to have a chance against him.

I was about to say the same thing. It's rare for a starter to get credited with a W or a L in these games...

I think two out of three isn't a bad guess. I think we will get to Prior today, because he hasn't been pitching too good as of late. Saturday's matchup scares me. It's our worst against their best. Zambrano has been doing awesome as of late, sometimes almost unhittable. The only chance I think we have on Saturday is to get to Zambrano early and rattle him. He is a nut-job, and if we shake him, I think we can get him. He is already going to be syked up like a mad man for the series and if we mess with him enough, he will lose it. I am not afraid of Maddux. It seems he has been very, very lucky this year. His luck should run out against us.

This entire series is going to be interesting, (and I know that's an understatement). Both teams are over .500 at this time, the first time that's happen since official interleague play. And it's pretty safe to assume that both these teams are the best that have been put together since interleague play. Both teams go into this series having crucial implications on their respective races in their divisions as well. So, overall the pressure cooker that is the Cubs vs. Sox series is getting only hotter.

That being said, what are the Sox chances this weekend?

We'll be fine this weekend. No worries. The only question is: Who's gonna pull a Mike Caruso (i.e. play way above their head)?

My bet is on Rowand. He's been hot lately, and this weekend could be great for him. Of course, the safe bet goes to Carlos Lee.
