Tries not to put down either team, has some valid points. You be the judge.

So you can imagine what the feeling is now, with the advent of Interleague baseball. The games between the Cubs and White Sox count. And they probably count double for Sox fans

The author of the article comes across to me as a bit pretentious, but what should I expect from a cub site?

I know plenty of cub fans who care about this series just as much as we do.

ditto.

one thing i've also noticed this year; now that the cubs are so good on paper and on a little hot streak, cub fans who normally dismiss the inter-city series , and the sox altogether - are all hopped up and excited for this series and what they predict will be a cubbie win....

I think its pretty darn accurate. I know Cubs fans who care, but not many. Basically every White Sox fan I know cares.

Trust me, most "real" Cubs fans care. They may care for different reasons, but these games are far from meaningless for them.

Just remember, the Cardinals are playing the last-place Royals while the Cubs have to play in a playoff-like atmosphere against a team that needs/wants to win as much as they do.

Oh sure, they care that way...that they are in afight for a division and need to win against a pretty good team. They don't care like some viscious ridiculous White Sox fans though that are cut throat and want to "destroy the cubs, I hate the Cubs, etc."

Flub fans are so superior to Sox fans. http://www.flyingsock.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

Well, some do.

I guess that what happens when half the fan base can't even name 5 players on their own team. Those same "fans" really don't get into the rivalries much either...

Right, there are no Flubs fans like that. Flub fans are so superior to Sox fans. http://www.flyingsock.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/rolleyes.gifTrue story...

Last winter Wheel of Fortune had a contestant from Joliet, Illinois. Naturally Pat Sajak (also from Joliet) had to probe deeper when this guy volunteered that he was a big Cubs fan, and also liked the Bulls, Bears, and Hawks. So he asked the obvious question, "What about the Sox?" The guy replied, "Nope," and when pressed further he said, "Sox Fans brought that on themselves."

If Jason hasn't met petty, vindictive Cubs fans, he sure isn't trying very hard.

The Cubs fan finished dead last. Who's surprised?

Little defensive there? I didn't say there were none. I said its an epidemic among Sox fans...not so much on the other side.

Oh, I'm sorry. West and I hadn't realized you consulted A.C. Nielsen on the subject.

Ahh, so sorry. I'll make sure to listen to what you have to say and not pay attention to the hundreds of Cubs and White Sox fans I've met in my lifetime.

Look around. Look at a Cubs board, they are talking baseball. Look at this board, they are talking Cub hatred. There's nothing naive about it. You may not want to admit it, but it's true.

I don't know why you see very real observations as guilt. I spend every day here, and I check out the Cubs board as well...it doesn't even compare in terms of negative posts about the other.

Pat Sajak is not from Joliet. He is from 31st and Kedzie and went to Farragut H.S. (same HS that Kevin Garnett attended) and Mr Sajak has a preference to the Scrubs over the Sox, but he will support both teams.

Sajak was speaking to the petty vindictive Cubs fan not in the role as WOF host, but as a fellow South Sider. I'm sure you agree it doesn't change the central point.

A one in a million occurence that somebody from Joliet would go on TV and use his twenty seconds of fame to disparage the Sox in the name of Cubs fandom. But we have others here that hold themselves up as far greater experts on the subject than any of the rest of us...

Their empirical evidence covers "hundreds" of Cubs fans? Hey, don't be modest. Make it thousands of Cubs fans...

Hey, you just keep on believing whatever you want. No sweat off my back. Why you have to question, with no real reason, what I've seen my whole life I have no idea.
