and baker is a better manager than the Oz because his team was hurt. hmmm.... ok don't worry about the fact that the sox were not supposed to be in first at all this year and have been there longer than the cubs, who were supposed to be there all year long.

how soon he forget that part of the reason dusty's team is hurt is dusty's own fault.shhh! do you want them to hear you or something! well, i have come to terms with letting jounalistic integrity fail to make a buck so i come to expect this from the cubune. it is the cubtimes that bothers me. they should be impartial, not owning the team and all...

Yeah, you're right - they should all be White Sox.

Ya have to pick your battles, people.

I guess Maggs didn't get it because of his injury? At least he didn't sneeze his back out.

Maybe Phil is recognizing Magglio being a panzie about signing and Sosa at least not making a scene...

I didn't think it was too bad, pretty much what I'd expect. At least he tried to give good explanations for why he picked who he did.

What exactly does Frank Thomas have to do to be selected to the All-City team? He is the most productive hitter in Chicago this year. Uribe should have been at second base, and Frank should have been the utility player. Down with Todd Walker. That's a biased pick.

Phil Rogers gives more coverage to Sox than any columnist on either paper. He's not a Sox-hater. But he had some tough calls to make, and he went with a Cub on all of them. Not great but it doesn't matter. If Uribe, Lee, Konerko, and Olivo are the better players (and an argument could be made for any of them) they should prove it on the field this weekend.

Go Sox!

We should invite Phil to do a chat. Rumor has it(actually it's not a rumor, it's a fact) that he's been doing chats on www.cubstalk.com Maybe all that time with the Cubs fans has confused him. He hasnt been on here in a while either

This was supposed to be in teal, right? You can't seriously be saying that Sammy has never "made a scene" about his contract??

Yea right...

The temptation is to go with Todd Hollandsworth for the terrific job he did while Sosa was recovering from his sneezing fit. But while he's not having an All-Star year, Sosa has been a tick better than Hollandsworth when he has played. Think about that sentence ... a tick better than Hollandsworth.

Hard to believe it fits with Sosa, huh? These figures might be deceiving, because we're just now entering the time of year when his totals explode, but Sosa's home run ratio has declined steadily from 9.0 at-bats per homer in 2001 to 11.3 in '02, 12.9 in '03 and 15.6 in '04. It will be a very good thing for the Cubs if Sosa puts together his usual second half. But Baker must cross his fingers because of the alarming run of recent injuries.

Magglio Ordonez had driven in 34 runs in 42 games when he underwent knee surgery three weeks ago. He was hitting above .300 for the sixth year in a row. The Sox will miss him when he's gone, but history shows it's unwise to spend 20 percent of your payroll on one player.

He's talks about Sosa's numbers declining and his recent injuries and then talks about how good Maggs was hitting before he got hurt yet still picks Sosa because Magglio makes too much money???

*****!

I can see Alou over Lee. Alou's having a hell of a year.
