Behind who? I can't even name the Cubs starting catcher...

That must mean he's really good...

Since a Fisk write-in was not an option, Olivo's the man!

I wonder who Phil Rogers will pick in RF. Will he base it on which RF has accumulated the best stats so far in the season? If so, he has to choose Maggs, hands down.

But I wonder, if Sosa returns by the time Rogers picks, and Maggs remains on the DL, will Rogers take the loser's way out to throw a bone to the Cubs by picking Sosa? Or would he make the decision on the basis of who was playing RF at the time of his selection? Gload? Rowand?

I hope Phil has enough integrity to pick the best RF in the city....

BTW. Olivo, hands down.

I don't know about defense (Miguel's been looking pretty brutal lately anyway), but Barrett is rocking offensively for the Cubs, totally outpacing Olivo.

But, this is WSI, and we're totally biased, so...

I hope you are joking. I like Olivo too, but come on, Michael Barrett has been one of the most consistent players on that team and is probably an NL All-Star

And you could ask 5 Cubs fans, and I guarentee only 2 would know his name.

I voted for Miguel anyways.

It's actually laughable to think that any Sox player will make the All City Team by popular vote, considering the rag and readership.

I voted as well. But I have to say I think offensively Barrett is crushing the ball. If he wins over Olivo I cant really be that mad about it. I think he has earned the spot if he wins.

G HR RBI AVG SLG
Olivo 38 6 25 .271 .517
Barrett 52 8 33 .311 .525

If you look at the stats, Olivo is pretty close in HR & RBIs given the fact he has played in almost 1/3 less games. Unfortunately for Olivo, most people are only going to look at the raw numbers and not games played. Even if they did, 40 points in AVG is going to be hard to overlook.

Excellent point, but I guarantee nobody is looking into it that closely. It's a popularity contest.

Ma and Pa Bako = 2. I wonder who the other two are? Perhaps he voted for himself. That only leaves one more unaccounted for.

I doubt that anybody is looking at the numbers at all. They just pick the name they recognize. Kinda like the AS game voting...

Nope. I honestly couldn't remember who the Cubs starting catcher was.

On the other hand, I probably couldn't name more than one starting catcher for any team besides the Sox. I really don't pay that much attention to other teams...

I know that this is already a thread, but I believe that it calls for something more drastic.

I AM CALLING ALL WSI PEOPLE TO CONTACT THEIR PEOPLE, WHETHER IT BE THE OTHER WHITESOX BOARDS THEY ARE ON, MARLINS BOARDS, IRISH BOARDS, AND GET PEOPLE TO VOTE ON CHICAGOSPORTS.COM FOR WHITESOX PLAYERS.

VOTE EARLY AND OFTEN. :hizzoner

Cubs fans would have to mobilize at least 250 voters, and that's without the additional sox fans factored in, in about 80 minutes in order to keep Olivo off the team

Barrett's making a late run, but unless the tribune leaves the polls open longer than they said they would so that more cubs fans can vote, Olivo should win.

WSI is the best. 3,000-members strong. That should be enough to win a lot of the polls when put on top of non-WSI voters.

We could get screwed on this next one if we're not careful. We have two choices for First and Second Base. I think we need to come to some agreement if we want to win these.
