It really puts the 56-game streak into perspective. Imagine having to go through this every single night. The pressure just increases tenfold with each at-bat. What about dealing with getting walked or hit by a pitch? You almost need to get the hit in your first at-bat or else your back is against the wall. Even 28-games is pretty amazing.

Forgot Joltin' Joe, just continue your OWN record, El Caballo!

Man I love this team right now!

Truly amazing. That's more or less a hit in every game for 2 months. 2 months! Face an ace, gotta get a hit, doesn't matter who is out there.

56 games will never be broken. I just can't picture it.

Isn't this where the national media pick up on a hitting streak?

How far did Molitor get in '87? I know he was well past 30. I don't think he got to 40 though.

I think Rose got 43 or 45 back in the 70's.

Baseball Tonight opened with it. Guess so.

Some fun numbers...

Carlos doesn't hold the longest consecutive streak on the current roster.

Sandy Alomar actually had a 30-game streak back in 1997!

Only 20 men in MLB history have had longer than a 31-game hitting streak.

Rose's streak was 44 games.

Molitor's streak in '87 was 39 games.

Carlos is very close to being in select company.

That's definitely one of the nicest things about Carlos' streak... Belle's name is erased from one more line of the franchise's record book.

You become a major sports story daily at about 30. THe mainstream media will start talking about it a bit if you get to 35 (as they did with Castillo I believe)

The national media will really get on it after about 30 or so, IMO.

I was getting nervous there for a while.

Not only did Carlos get number 28 but he also scored the lead run. SWEET.

And a salute to Mr. Zero for shutting down the Marlins.

GO SOX!!

Congrats Carlos. Was getting very worried there, especially after the first two at bats, it looked like he was really trying to force it. It was great to see him have the discipline to walk in his next at bat and not try to be selfish and force it on a pitche he felt he couldnt hit. I think that was one of my favorite moments. Takes a lot of team spirit to lessen your chances at continuing the streak and taking a walk. Congrats  :bandance: :gulp:

Yeah, but he's got a doubles record that nobody's ever going to touch.
