View Full Version : A Plan to Spread Sox Pride

Every once in a while, when I have spare time, I try to join in on ESPN's various live, online chats with baseball analysts/writers. I always bombard them with as many White Sox questions as possible (or subtle Cub bashing too), trying to make them aware of the interest in the Sox as well as to force them to think about the White Sox. If nothing else, maybe it will slip into their subconscious and they will make more mention of the White Sox during their broadcasts/articles.

Of course, there are many people participating in these chats from all over and White Sox fans are largely outnumbered. I was thinking that it would be very cool if the WSI faithful all banded together and coordinated attacks so to speak. That is, if they received hundreds of chat requests from White Sox fans, they couldn't ignore them all. So here is a list of upcoming chats next week and maybe we could organize such a session where many of us flood the inbox of Peter Gammons, for example, with White Sox questions. I am sick of only reading/hearing about the Yankees, Red Sox and Cubs!

Monday June 14th at 12:00pm ET (11:00 CT) Rick Sutcliffe
Monday June 14th at 2:30pm ET (1:30 CT) Peter Gammons

Here's a link to the index page: http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation/chatIndex

Those are the only two listed now; but generally Joe Morgan and Rob Neyer or Jayson Stark conduct one sometime mid to late week.

Anybody in?

I'm in. I submitted a couple questions to both Neyer and Morgan and neither were read, basically for reasons of just trying to get the Sox out there and discussed.

Someone like Morgan has no idea what rumors or viable options are out there for our Sox, but just spreading the Sox Pride.

Sutcliffe is pathetic. He answered like 6 questions, 4 Flubbie related ones of course. I understand he is working the Flub/Astro game tonight, but he should answer more questions than that.

Sutcliffe is Cub through and through...I can't stand him!

I tried to get him to talk about Konerko, who his daughter went to high school with and still no reply. He avoids all White Sox questions!

On to Gammons!

Gammons isn't going to make it until 2pm (CT) 3pm (ET) as oppose to the 2:30 time given originally. Maybe he is getting some breaking news?...doubtful...

A White Sox question!

Matt (Chicago, IL): Is Shingo Takatsu the right man for the closer's spot in Chicago, or will Kenny Williams have to make another move for a reliever?

A White Sox question!

Too bad the response was a joke...

Peter Gammons: (3:33 PM ET ) I think Marte can also close and I think Williams right now is more interested in a starter.

Thanks for a great chat .. I hope everyone enjoys Prior-Clemens tonight... I'll be back in two weeks for more of your questions .. take care!

Cubs...
