Former Sox pitcher, Matt Ginter, is starting for the Mets vs the Twits. Matt has done well for the Mets in a few starts for the Mets. Let's hope Ginter shuts down the Twits!

If you had hindsight powers, you got to not make the trade. Ginter would be a great stopgap until pitchers become available.

Oh well.

Ginter has pitched very well tonight, though it is just one game.

At the time I though the trade a wash, I didn't really care that Ginter was gone but didn't care that we had Timo Perez.

It is the national league too, if that makes any difference

Looper gets 2 quick outs in the ninth then gives up a single to Lecroy and Jose Offerman follows with a double that scores Lecroy. Tied at 2 in the 10th.
Guess they turned the fans on in the 9th.

Well, the bastards have tied it up... Here's hoping for a miracle. :whiner:

Mets get nothing in the 10th. They have a miserable offense.

Oh well, we just need to take care of our own business. We are still a game up in the all important loss column.

The Twins won't be this lucky against better teams.

2 outs in the bottom of the 10th for anyone who's interested.

In their own way the Twins are like the old Yankee teams of the early 60's. They are never out of a game until it is actually over. They have that same attitude.

I don't know where they got it from (me thinks it's the contraction issue) but you have to admire them. This is the third year in a row that they seem to have that chip on their shoulder. And to do what they've done despite a lot of injuries is to their credit.

They won't be going away anytime soon.

I listen to the WFAN all the time, and believe it or not but the Mets brass along with Mike and the Dog are VERY high on Ginter. Just a shame and amazing that the Mets can't score on the Twins as its 2-2 in the 12th..

Freakin' Mets have a runner on third with one out and fail to score! On to the bottom of the 14th.

How long before the Twins end it with a homer?

On to the 15th....hopefully this goes like 25 innings and the twinkies bulpen gets depleated.....even better if the mets win in 25! :D:

For those of you who continue to post about how the Twins "just know to win", this game is a perfect example of why the beloved will win the division.

For as miserable as the Mets offense is, the Twins aren't much better. They won't be able to sleepwalk their way to victories this weekend when that killer Phillies lineup comes to town.

ONTO THE 15TH...

The pen already is depleted if all they have left is Grant Ball Four.

Even the Mets should be able to tee off on this bum.

Alright, Mets got Spencer on 2nd, 1 out. Jason Phillips up. Grant "LOL" Balfour on the hill.

He flied very deep, 2 outs, still on second...come OWN!!!

And they put Piazza on first..two on two out...

And Zeile fails to come through...Twins got this one I believe.

I thought the Sox under-used and under-appreciated Ginter. I never thought he was going to be great, but I still think he's better than Adkins.

Also, on the play in the 9th that scored LeCroy to tie the game, Cameron overthrew the cut off man (by a lot) - if he hits the cut off man, I think they nail LeCroy at the plate and the Mets win.

Couldn't agree with you more. God forbid we give a shot to a guy with a strong minor league track record.

Twins have runner son first and third with one out. They aren't the Mets, so this one is all but over.

They still ahve more losses than we do so I'm not concerned. Although this was a golden opp. for us to go two games up in the "L" column again.

But you can't count on awful teams I suppose.

As long as we dont let it get away from us we're in good shape. They have an easy sked and us a difficult one. If we're within two then I really couldnt care less at the all star break.

The only important statistic is that in the loss column:

Sox- 25
Twins-26

Thanks for that 5th starter JR. I figure we would still be about 2-3 games up with another starter that can go more than 3 innings.

The mighty Twins have vaulted us (kind of) because they've played lousy teams like KC, Detroit, Tampa Bay and the Mets, while the Sox have battled the likes of Oakland, Anaheim and Philly.

If Minnesota continues it's light hitting, they won't beat any good teams.

We'll be in first place by the end of tomorrow night.

Tori Hunter another spectacular game saving catch on the drive by Jason Phillips.
