Last night at the game I talked to Roberto. Mentioned that if he is looking to close again there is a place for him back on the Sox. Mentioned he should talk to his agent.
I know I know, he isn't the greatest, but he can still through close to 100 MPH and we could probably get him for an average minor league pitcher so why not?
I'd be nice to trade him straight up for Koch, but Philly isn't that stupid.

It would be nice to have Roberto back on the team in some capacity, but he's basically Philadelphia's Cliff Politte.

What was his response?

He just kind of smiled. But he's gotta be thinking about closing again.

Do you actually know him? How did the conversation come about?

Unless we somehow get everyday freddie from Seattle when we get Garcia (I know, I know I am jumping to conclusions) this would be a good idea. He has to be better then Krotch, and he might bring a few more fans out to the ballpark because he was well liked while he was here.

sitting in rightfield next to the bullpen.

He was such a crybaby after the Sox traded him, and took so many cheap shots at the team in the papers, I wouldn't want to see him come back.

Polite is a meathead, though. I just rares back and fires it as hard as he can, straight as an arrow. Roberto is a seasoned veteran and I would bet that he might have a better impact on the team than Jackson.
