Ramon Ortiz - R - ANA Buy Angels Tickets

The agent for Ramon Ortiz indicated that if his client does not get a chance to return to the Angels' rotation soon, he will request a trade.
Pat Roache, Ortiz's Boston-based agent, does not know why the Angels were so quick to remove Ortiz from the rotation when John Lackey, who is struggling as badly as his client had, is still given a chance to start. For the record, Ortiz has pitched better in relief and the Angels have indicated that they have no immediate intention of returning him to the rotation. Keep an eye on this situation. Ramon Ortiz isn't worth the paper the story about his trade will be printed on...

Ramon Ortiz has been good in the past. I would not mind taking a chance on him if we could get him for a low level prospect.

I agreee BUT only if his contract is not prohibitive; I don't want the Sox blowing what little payroll flexibility they may have on a big question mark who has been horrible all year.

I suggest we look past a guy whose nickname is "whiplash"...

I say that if we can get him for a low level prospect and have Anaheim pick up most of his contract, he's definately worth a shot. But only if they meet both of those requirements.

Doesn't Washburn have an ERA over 5? I guess that's better than the 10 ERA our 5th starters have been having!

I heard the Angels want a lefty in the pen. If that's the case, how about Wunsch for Ortiz?
