I'm assuming that means that Maggs is going to go on the DL. Poor Maggs. GUT IT OUT if you want more than 15 mil a year.

In addition, Twins are already up 3-0 on the Drays. Paul Abbott is pitching. THe guy that shut us down. Oh well, I guess we couldn't expect them to win that many against the Twins. IT still pisses me off that they get to play the Drays 3 times more while we play the A's three times more.

Goddammit, its newsday, not a reliable source. Sheesh, what if I told you that JR just died because it was published in a newspaper in a city that wanted to hire him (for what reason, I do not know).

I've been on him since he said he wanted Vlad money and years, thank you very much. He sure as hell doesn't deserve it. If he wanted to stay around here, he would go ahead and take the offer we gave him. But he hasn't. So I'll stay on him til he does. I hate athletes that feel they need 15 million instead of 14 million a year. And I can say what I want.

Interesting, I like that ozzie is giving willie a chance to hit off a lefty.

with maggs out, the other options are Gload and Timo who both are lefties also. Might as well put the best defensive team out there under those circumstances...

Right. I'm happy he's getting a chance though because he hasn't hit much off lefties this year and I think he'll be able to do a better job off them then Jose does. If that becomes the case ozzie would be able to move uribe to ss and willie to 2b against lefties let arow play center and Jose would be a valuable bench player if a right handed reliever came into the game later on.

Yeah. That's exactly right.

I like the lineup, save for the fact that Crede has to be back in the lineup. Hopefully he can prove my concerns wrong.

I agree. A part of me would rather have Gload in there, even though the Sox are facing a lefty. Crede has been so bad lately that I dread seeing him step into the batter's box.

It was mainly because Ozzie brought out a new lineup. It reminded me of Jerry Manuel's "Southpaw Wrecking Crew" lineup that never worked. PHG has fond memories of that lineup.

Let's be honest here...

Ozzie has done a lot of tinkering in the past two months. Ross Gload in centerfield; Uribe at 2b, SS, 3b; Willie in CF and at 2b.

If the Sox weren't winning, would we be all over his case the same way we were on Jerry's?

He has done a lot of tinkerng, but at least I can make some sense out of it. I couldn't with Manuel, and I wasn't alone. JM's screwy personel moves drove everyone crazy, especially the players.

They got 10 runs, give'em credit. They did get a lot of cheap runs in normal Twins fashion, but they scored more than 6 legitimitely. Gotta give'em credit once in a while. It's when they win by two after a late inning error that it's BS

Just curious, but isn't Redman the type of pitcher (throws slow, slower, & slowest) that gives us trouble, like a Rogers or Radke?

And because he's a changeup pitcher, I think he's more effective against righties than lefties, as lefties take away his change. So starting Harris and Jose is actually a good thing today (I'd even move Jose up in the batting order). Timo should be in there as well.

Bobby Kielty is playing. He is guaranteed to hit a home run in this game.

Checked the stats and that would be correct:

vs Righties -- .284/.332/.444
vs Lefties -- .385/.459/.635

C'mon, a runner scoring on "Passed Balls" happens all the time.
4 walks in an inning helps. Two 2 run homers help.

To keep the lefty from leading off basically. No genius logic to it. Willie's a cutter and slasher but struggles against lefties. By putting him 2nd you increase the chance that he has someone on in front of him. That will keep Hatteberg holding at 1st giving Willie more room to drop a bunt. It also helps get Redman into the stretch for Willie.

I don't care what anyone says, Crede is flat out horrible. I'm sick and tired of his weak @ss lazy pop ups. I can't put up with a starter who hits in the .200 range, especially a guy who plays at a corner position. But hey, Crede has won 4-5 games for us this year. Therefore, we can put up with him sucking the rest of the time. If I have to hear that ******** excuse one more time i'm going to.... :chunks

That's exactly what I was thinking. The Sox have Crede and Valentin due up, and since it's a near impossibility for both of them to get on base in the same inning, Maggs pinch-hitting makes a lot of sense.

Or Gload doesn't know what the hit and run sign is. Lead-off walk, time to bring out Mr. Zero.

Is it truely wise to leave Marte in this long?

How come we walk guys with no outs, but take walks with 1 or 2 outs.

Unreal. Walk and HBP. Can't we make a team earn it.

0-2. Throw a freaking breaking ball. You just missed inside. Ugh. we CANNOT lose this game with Mulder and Garcia comin up.

Great. Marte begins to meltdown. Two on, nobody out.

If we get out of this with no runs scored, it will be a miracle.

Well, he shouldn't have been out there in the first place. It's not wise to use a pitcher like Marte for more than two innings at a time. Ozzie goofed on this one.

I agree. I called it as soon as I saw it. Nice job by Shingo, here comes Cotts.

He was out there to face Chavez. He can't hit lefties but can be hit by them.

WHAT!?!?! You are taking out your best reliever??? I don't care if it's a lefty or not. LEFTYS ONLY HAVE 4 hits in 20 ABs, and you are wasting your best reliever with ONE out.

YES! Carlos caught it. Off the bat, I thought that was the game ending single to left. Mercy.

To the 12th....

Good point, Dawg. I don't accuse Chavez of walking into that pitch at all though...Marte was wild...Chavez was pretty far off the plate.

Man. Can we get ANYBODY On with no outs? We have gotten ONE player on with no outs this ENTIRE game.

The offense is really crapping the bed once again. It's ALL or FREAKING nothing for this team.

RKMeibalane

Chavez is out of the game with a bruised right hand. I'm glad the Sox don't have a to worry about him for the rest of the game, but I'm also glad that his injury doesn't appear to be that serious. Chavez is one of the few guys the A's have that I respect.

This bullpen pitcher for the A's...Durocher or whatever...is making our hitters look downright silly. He has pitched 3 innings, I have seen enough of him.

He has got starter stuff, IMO.

Offense comes through when we are up by 8 runs or either they just stay asleep. We don't even have a hti against the guy. Frustrating.

Hopefully we can hold them in the bottom half here and the A's will bring in a new pitcher for the 13th. This kid is tough.

NOBODY in baseball was going to touch that Dourcher guys stuff. It was sick.
