In addition to his duties as White Sox PA announcer, Gene Honda has replaced the legendary Harvey "One minute to play in the period" Wittenberg as Blackhawks PA announcer.

Gene Honda signs on to be the Blackhawks PA announcer for the 2001-02 season; Harvey Wittenberg remains with the team as Website Contributor (http://www.chicagoblackhawks.com/team/index.cfm?cont_id=74658&right_include=toc_press_releases.cfm&right_cont_type_id=&right_cont_id=)

I've heard his voice over the PA system during a hawks game before... maybe it was just a recorded message.

I met Gene at Soxfest in February - he's really nice and easy to talk to...he has such a 'smooth and creamy' voice- haha. I asked him if he's ever made a mistake while at the microphone because i've never heard him say anything incorrectly or stumble over any words. He says he has made mistakes but he tries to do everything flawlessly.

nice banner for Sox Clubhouse - I love it.
