Rowand seems like he's a pretty good platoon hitter. Keep him only against lefties and that's fine. Maybe a Timo/Rowand platoon would work out after all if they can both hit .300 in that role.

Hopefully he'll see some fastballs hitting in front of Maggs.

Not really, since Rowand is also playing and any loss can be blamed on the Rowand Effect, leading to an inconclusive result.

I find this pitching match-up today very interesting. Garland has been solid all year - how will he handle starting in a big game? Santana, on the other hand, seems to have underperformed. But last year he seemed to be good in big-time situations.

I sort of have a bad feeling about today. Sorry for the pessimism.

Blah sorry about this, Konerko is batting ahead of Jose today.

Santana is the type of pitcher who kills the Sox. Personally I think this guy is going to be a 20 game winner someday. His slider is very good and he backs that up with one of the best change up's in the league.

He can get a team off rhythm by swinging at stuff outside the strike zone.

And the Sox have been known to do that....

I thought it was a 2:05 start. A few minutes ago, I instant messaged a friend mocking Rowand hitting in the #2 spot.

He told me that at the moment that IM reached him Rowand crossed home plate with the second run.

Note to White Sox: good teams can HOLD LEADS.

HomeFish

How about getting a #3 starter too? I hear those are useful.

Edit: And a second baseman.

I had a feeling Garland would struggle with his lead. I'd shorten the leash for today's game if I'm Ozzie.

We'd better get going now that the twins came back with some good offence. Not only is Garland looking shaky, I'm nervous that Santana has already started to settle down. IF he does, it'll be lights out.

I really hate the Twinkies.....but to be honest....I like the way they play Baseball....they not only beating us all the times (when it matters) ....they're also building their confidence by beating us in the important games over and over again plus destroying our confidence.

I believe the Sox already know that they can't beat the Twinkies in games that really matters.

It must be so great beeing a Twinkies-Fan.......Did I really say that ???

You should get off our side. Fans that quit like you have are more annoying than the way the Sox are playing today. They have barely played 1/3 of the season yet, and you're handing the division to the Twins based on a game, which IF lost means a split in the series.

Pathetic.

At least Olivo hasn't quit.

Bases loaded. NOBODY out.
This is after 2 solo shots in the top of the 4th.

Come on, Caballo...

Brian26
05-23-2004, 02:31 PM
Caballo with a line shot single to left, which scores a pair.

Sox lead 7-6.

Runners at 1st and 2nd, and still NOBODY out.

PK with a dribbler up the middle for a hit. Big Hurt lumbers around from 2nd to score, and the Sox lead 8-6.

Runners at first and second still, and NOBODY out.

Pitching change....

This game's not Tory-proof yet. The Sox have to put up some runs in this inning.

Then we can get to work on making it Koch-proof.

Actually, I've been listening to the Twins announcer. They sound as though they're both a hundred years old. But they say some nice things about the sox. For instance, did you know that Thomas leads the league in walks and is second in OBP, while maintaining some good power numbers. I never even noticed what kind of year he was having.

Of course he is, because he's doing it against left-handed pitching.

I'm not sure if Guillen knows this though, which means Rowand may start the next game against a right-handed starter and go 0-4 all over again.
