Id be shocked if they got the game in, unless they are willing to wait until real late which is doubtful with a day game tomorrow. Ijust hope they dont make them play 2 tomorrow with the twinkies in town

That's why I think they will really try hard to get this one in. This is the only time Baltimore comes to town and they don't have a day off after this series so if this game does get rained out it would have to be a double header tomorrow.

i've been watching baseball
since i was 2 years old an one thing

i never understood was why cant they
play in the rain? i understand if it's

thunder and lightning outside, they wont play
but if its just a heck of a lot of rain, they call the game

what is that about?

Sox have control of calling the game until lineup cards are exchanged. That rain looks like it is going to push through. I think they will start, just real late. They could start at 9:30 if they wanted to.

You seriously wonder why that can't play baseball in the rain? Here are some reasons: slippery (possibly deluged) field, muddy infield, water logged ball, and its the obvious disadvantage of pitching/hitting when you're being pelted with raindrops.

So what

they can just play through it
like in football,rugby,soccer

heck,even golfers play until
there's lightning or darkness

these guys are tough enough to
play in the rain, therefore they should
play baseball in the rain

I say man up and play the damn game.

Unless it does long term damage to the field.

Well according to Hawk, we'll have a decision at 8. If no go for tonight, then it's a DH tomorrow.

NWS short range base reflectivity (http://www.crh.noaa.gov/radar/loop/DS.p19r0/si.klot.shtml)

NWS radar shows there's lighter, dryer stuff from the S and SW moving towards the southside, small chance they might try to get it in ----

You're kidding, right?

Think about the game of baseball. Then think about football, rugby, and soccer...have you answered your own question yet?

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want some guy hurling a ball 95mph in my direction when he has no control over it.

#@$%# rain. Well, Jimbo's got my money tonite. I sat there until 8:45pm, shot the poop with my brother once he got there and now I'm home. The good news is that I have tickets to tomorrow's game too, but I have to work until 6:00am. I'll get to sleep thru game one and be fresh as a daisy for game two.

I was there, and i can say that i experienced nothing more than a drizzle. They must have feared the threat of rain
