The best news we have gotten in April in descending order:
1. Ozzie was a great choice as manager. Kudos to KW.
2. We have a starting catcher for years to come.
3. Loiza's 2003 excellence has not diminshed.

And the worst that we've learned in April is:
1. Carlos Lee continues to be Mr. Potential and not Mr. Performance.
2. Mark Buehrle is very hittable.
3. Aaron Rowand is not a starting center fielder.

I feel a sense of vindication regarding this item because I've been saying to anyone who brings up the subject that he should be an excellent fourth outfielder.

Of those 3 bad things, it looks like only one is really something that we'll just have to wait and see to fix. Buehrle already looks like he's turning it around and he's starting to strike people out like never before, which is always a good thing. Also, Timo is an acceptable replacement for Rowand and Reed is always a call away if we get to that point. We'll just have to wait on Lee though. I dont think we can expect the same Carlos Lee as last year, but maybe the same one from 2002. He's being more patient and his numbers are down as a result. He needs to be more aggressive at the plate. When his K/BB ratio is less favorable, he hits better overall.

Bad thing #4: The Twins are playing fantastic baseball up to this point.

Up until today they have played the following schedule...

6 vs. Cleveland (4-2)
6 vs. Detroit (3-3)
6 vs. Kansas City (5-1)
3 vs. Toronto (2-1)
3 vs. Anahiem (1-2)

That's a pretty inflated 15-9, if you ask me.

Kansas City is one of the worst teams in the majors. They can hit a above average, but they might have the worst starting 5 in baseball. Their bullpen sucks too. Add those two things, and you have a team that is going to lose A LOT of games.

I think our major concern thus far is that we're not very good at keeping leads. It seems this team excels during close games - which is, and isn't, a good thing.
