the thing i don't like about these double headers is that if a team is playing poorly the 1st game, it seems like it's very easy to cary that over to the 2nd game and get chundered there too. I hope the Sox come out strong the 1st game and set a tone for the whole day. A tone that says we shall crush them

Maybe it's just me, but the thing I don't like about double headers is that it always seems to end in a split, where each team wins once - as opposed to if we played these games in 2 days, the chance of winning both would appear greater...

The Sox have lost both games of the last 2 doubleheaders they had.

Screw that, if the Sox get swept in a DH by Toronto, I'll buy one of those new minor league-looking hats they have and wear it for the rest of the season.

Anybody got an idea or hazard a guess as to how long it's gonna be? How bad is it raining?

From the radar on weather.com it appears to be a very small band of rain. So hopefully not for long.

radar, but not Randar, buwahaha (http://www.weather.com/weather/map/USIL0225?from=LAPmaps)

Game is scheduled to start at 3:35. Who knows if it actually will though.

Well, they're playing now. Thank goodness.

Woodward is on third base after a triple. Why do the Sox centerfielders have so many balls that are hit over their heads?

Maybe the park dimensions kind of encourage it. Most of the balls hit over their heads are gone anyway.

It's a 1-1 game after three innings.

Does anyone remember the last time the Sox successfully executed a squeeze bunt? When they last attempted one? It's not something I recall happening in the past few years.

Honestly, they probably haven't even attempted a play like that since Tim Raines and Lance Johnson were around. Bevington and Manuel were more interested in hitting three-run homers than the were in using actually strategy to win games. Of course, strategy requires functional brain cells, and I don't think either manager had any.

Another error by a Sox pitcher. Somebody needs to work with these guys in order to prevent those types of mistakes.

Mark's pitch-count is already getting up there. I hope they don't need to use the bullpen to any significant extent.

Halliday is having no trouble whatsoever with Sox hitters. The only chance for the Sox to win this game is for them to be able to get into the Toronto bullpen.

HR Crede (4). 3-2 Sox!

RKMeibalane

Buehrle out; Politte in. It's still 3-2 Sox in the seventh.

Six and two thirds to be exact. His pitch-count was extremely high, otherwise, he might have gone another inning or two.

Politte is out after pitching two thirds of an inning. Marte is on to face Delgado.

RKMeibalane

HR Delgado (5). It's now 3-3 in the eighth inning. Toronto is still batting with one out.

Marte seems to really suck when the weather's cold.

Kerry Lightenberg replaces Roy Halliday for Toronto. It's still 3-3 in the eighth.

Carlos Delgado makes a lot of pitchers "suck".

Commentary on the game so far...
Burly-mon was getting the first and second outs pretty easily but then seemed to lose focus and had a hard time getting out of the inning.

Suicide squeeze to get the first run.!.! WOW I know I haven't seen one of those since Lamont managed.

The offense needs to kick it into gear now that Halladay is out.

Saracen

And giving up 3 homers in 8 innings of relief is "sucking".

Gload needs to get it done here. He has runners at the corners. The Sox need to put the game away now, before Botch has a chance to ruin it.

Absolute terrible AB by Gload there. All we needed was a fly ball, and he pulled his head way off of the ball. Carlos should have been hitting there, he's only good for hitting fly balls.

I wouldn't be surprised if Carlos pinch-hits sometime this inning. I'm sure Ozzie would like to get this game over with, and Lee can get that done with one swing.

All right, Juan. Let's end this thing right here.

Why did Ozzie let Alomar bat there? He's looked awful this game, and he has one of his better bats on the team on the bench in Carlos. I feel like Ozzie has been out-managed at the end of this game.

So this is like the 3rd game that Konerko has been walked to get the DP situation with Crede at the plate and every time Crede just hits a fly to the OF that scores the run...

Are teams not seeing that Crede doesn't hit into the DP. To me, if I were playing my hunch on the other side of the ball...I would pitch to Konerko and hope for the strikeout or popup in the infield.
