Could Kenny be a better GM than we suspected? (or, to put it another way, has he lucked out with a Marte level theft again?)

How freakin' phenomenal has Uribe's play been?

He definitely should be the winning PTC for today (4/28 CLE) :

1st AB: Sac bunt in first to put Willie at third
2nd AB: Walk
3rd AB: Double
4th AB: Solo Hr to keep at least some hope alive
5th AB: Single to start 9th inning rally

For a final line of:
3 AB 2 R 3 H 1 RBI 1 BB 0 K

Talk about OBP! Talk about occasional power! And even the defense ain't half bad!

Here are his season stats so far:

16 G
57 AB
9 R
22 H
3 2B
0 3B
3 HR
9 RBI
39 TB
4 BB
9 K
2 SB
1 CS
.435 OBP
.596 SLUG
.386 AVE
1.032 OPS

Now if the brain trust at 35th and Shields would just put 2 and 2 together, Put Uribe and Olivo at the top of the order, Willie in the 9-hole, and then bench the scrub when Jose returns...

Yeah, I notice the FOMiles have been pretty quiet recently.

Uribe is on fire.

Hey, I wish we had Miles at Second and Uribe at Short.

But maybe that's because I'm so not sold on Willie Harris being anything but a waterboy to the guys who can actually hit...

I think we'd be great w/ Uribe - Valentin as 1-2 hitters.

agreed - my stopgap for the present would be 1 Uribe - 2 Olivo. Olivo has a .372 OBP and good speed.

(Unlike Willie Useless, who is "batting" a muscular .239/.288 Ave/OBP)

When Jose returns, He can take the 2 spot and Olivo can go back to the 9-hole... I actually think Willie might be best at 8 - after all the slowpokes - Olivo would be like a bottom-of the order "leadoff man."
