It is absolutely gorgeous here in Chicago today. High 70's/low 80's. Very windy today.

No attendance figures released yet.

Farmio is REALLY on his soapbox today. Last inning he was saluting our troops, fire fighters and policemen. This inning, he's working the donor card program and saluting organ donors. Not that I disagree with anything he is saying, and in fact I think it's kind of cool that he shows what a big heart he has. He's just jamming a lot of it in during the first 2 1/2 innings today.

Hawk never said Moronatti's name, but he did say a Chicago writer puts a spin on everything, especially things he says.

Also...watching the game I TV I have to say that the 80 degree weather brought in a nice crowd, something in the range of 9 or 10 thousand.

Konerko grounds out up the middle, Belliard was seriously on the other side of 2B and four steps into the outfield gras...web gem?

Seems like a web Gem every damn night putting Konerko out. You think it might be because Aunt Bea has a better chance of beating out an infield hit? He'd be hitting .350 if he could just run like Carlos or Frank.

You know what, those attendance figures should be in teal, I made a mistake and have been watching the game, looking at posts, and doing homework all at the same time.

I think he did everything right last night. They just sucked. Politte and Marte aren't supposed to suck like that.

That being said, this team is starting to remind me too much of the beginning of last year, and that was something Ozzie was supposed to remedy.

I don't know. Although I was impressed with Koch's 2 strike outs, he nearly gave me a heart attack prior to that. It seemed like the pitching staff was hell-bent on losing that game.

THE_HOOTER
04-28-2004, 03:47 PM
Dont take this as a knee jerk reaction to his lackluster play recently, but I dont know if it would be too smart to lock up Ordonez to all of that money.

His baserunning is brutal, overall he is below average in the field, but he is a great hitter.

We might be better off putting our dough into some pitching and defense.

We cannot continue to send a lineup out there with Maggs, Thomas, Lee, and Konerko--too one dimensional.

We need a better combo of speed, power, and plate discipline.

Its all or nothing with this lineup it seems.

Maybe keep Maggs, and get rid someone else, but I dont know who.

I gotta say that I was proud of Koch last night. I really thought he was gonna blow it.

As for a "Greg Walker Watch"...I hope not. There is some more deja vu. The offense shows no patience and hits like crap, the hitting coach is fired, then the players turn it around for a time only to fall back into old patterns. Maybe we do need to make some trades to put some variety in our offense. Most of these guys appear to be swinging for the fences all the time.

At the risk of being condemmed I have to tell you how I feel.....

These comebacks are awesome, incredible, fantastic, amazing...

but

WHY are the Sox continually putting themselves in this position in the first place? Against bad teams??

Like it or not you can't keep doing this forever. Whatever's wrong has got to be fixed.

Ozzie's done a amazing job now if Williams will get him some help.

I closed out of the CHAT after the 30th time I heard the phrase corpseball. Anyone who remembers Manuel and his regime knew that this was not corpseball - yesterday or today. This was a team struggling to stay in the game but not getting the breaks.

This was a great example of why Manuel was terrible, why I like Ozzie and why the Corpseball era is long gone.

Scott much like Garland just didnt have it in these games, and that put em down early. But you have to give credit to these guys battling the way they did, I have no voice right now. And of course you shouldn't have to come back from 4 runs down in the 9th but more importantly you shouldn't win when you 4 runs down in the 9th!

Because the Sox shouldn't be in this position in the first place against Tampa Bay and Cleveland now should they?

Again I LOVE what they are doing but you simply can't keep winning games like this. Ozzie himself in the post game said it would be nice to win an easy one for a change.

I'm telling you how I feel. Sorry if it pisses you off. I get pissed off falling behind badly to garbage teams in the first place.

By the way this is unbelieveable and has nothing to do with this post but it was 75 yesterday here in Pocatello and I was sweating while cutting grass. Right now it is actually SNOWING and it's collecting on the ground. I have never seen anything like this before in my life! I assume it's headed Chicago way.

Maybe the Sox this year will be one of those teams that plays up to the level, or just a notch above, its competition. Didn't we have some blowouts earlier against NY and KC? A win is a win, whether we win by one run or 100. It still counts the same in the standings. I don't get pissed off as long as the end result is a "W".

By the way, Tampa and Cleveland are both pretty young, hungry ballclubs. The entire American League looks strong this year (except for maybe Seattle). The parity in the AL is amazing compared to the NL.

Do you feel the same way about those Twin comebacks as well?

Or are they good because their comebacks don't involve the Evil (Ooooooooo) Sox owner?

Also didn't the Angels have a plethora of comeback wins in '02? Didn't seem to hurt them to continually do that, of course they didn't have the Evil (Ooooooooo) Sox owner, so they don't count....
