Paulie's hitting has returned form the dead. Not only is he hitting for power, he's hitting for a decent average. He is one of the very few in all of major league baseball to have more home runs than strikeouts. Yeah, he still gets his GIDPs, but thats primarily because he has the speed of an oak tree.
However, in two of the last three games he has demonstrated lapses of judgment that I could accept from an eleven year old Little Leaguer, but not from someone with PK experience.
Saturday he made a nice stop on a grounder behind first base, turned, and threw away the ballgame. He hurried his throw and the ball squirted past the oncoming pitcher, allowing one run to score and setting up a second.
Gone was the lead, and soon the ballgame.
Tuesday he lead off the Sox 7th with a nice double. Crede grounded a ball to Omar Visquel at shortstop and Konerko gets caught trying to make it to third.
That type of brainless baseball really detracts from what so far has been a fine bounce back season.
